User :   I get an itch inone particular spot of mt ear pinna. When I scratch it I feel a hot electric type sensation ( which makes me Jump!) in my spine between my shoulder blades. I also have some numbness near this area of my shoulder / back that I can sense an itch there but not when I scratch it.
Doctor :   May I know your age?
Doctor :   And since when are you having this symptom?
User :   59years and symptoms about 6 months
Doctor :   Do you mean on itching on a particular spot on the ear pinna or inside the ear(external ear)?
User :   in one particular spot
User :   on the pinna
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have any other associated symptoms along with these symptoms - such as ear ache?
Doctor :   discoloration of the ear pinna?
User :   no ear ache. I cannot feel any spots or raised areas in my ear at the "area" and friends cannot see anything there
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   There are no reports of organic medical conditions in the medical literature that explains the symptoms you described.
User :   Just an odd phenominem then?
Doctor :   Ear pinna are supplied by a cranial nerve - trigeminal nerve whose branches are restricted to the face and parts of the neck.
Doctor :   and they are no way connected to the spine or the back.
Doctor :   Probably yes an odd phenomena which needs no medical attention.
User :   Thankyou
Doctor :   Since you do not report of any visible lesions or other symptoms such as burning sensation, pain,
Doctor :   you need not concern.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   The burning sensation is felt in my spine, and friends notice that I jump having scratched my itchy ear. Its weird
Doctor :   Few individuals can have highly sensitive spots.
Doctor :   Such areas are found due to unknown factors
Doctor :   probably explained by extra sensitive skin or sensitive nerve endings.
User :   I must be one of those sensitive " souls" .... thankyou for your time I will sign out now
Doctor :   Stimulation of such sensitive areas can produce similar symptoms.
Doctor :   And this isn't a concerning problem
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
