User :   I have itchiness in the rectal area which has been there since 4-5 days now. It increases at night and whenever I have motions. What should I do to get rid of it? At times it becomes sore and causes pain and burning sensation.

Please help!

Do you have any bleeding symptoms?
User :   No
Doctor :
Ok

Doctor :
Did you have any similar problems in the past?
User :   The area where the itchiness is seems to have become sensitive
Doctor :   Ok

User :   I may have had itches once in a while but not for this long
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :
The common cause in these cases is Piles or Hemorrhoids
User :   you mean hemorrhoids of large intestine?
User :   but piles will cause some swelling right
User :   i dont seem to have those
Doctor :
Hemorrhoids does show swelling it is of external variety
Doctor :
if it is an internal variant, then it is not a likely one
User :   ok
User :   could this also be due to worms?
Doctor :   you shall have certain discharge in that case

Doctor :
but with only itching sensation
User :   what kind of discharge?
Doctor :
you shall need to rule out Piles as the first step
User :   I would have to go to a doctor physically for that right?
Doctor :
Yes, but for now
Doctor :
I shall suggest you a symptomatic treatment
Doctor :
which you can try for the next 3 days
User :   sure that would help
Doctor :
and then schedule your doctor's visit
Doctor :
First is a Sitz bath 1-2 times per day
Doctor :
it means to sit with the area exposed in a hot water tub with salt added in it
Doctor :
rock salt is better
User :   I see
User :   what if I don't have a tub
Doctor :
and the next line is an ointment
Doctor :
You should sit a normal tub
Doctor :
which you can sit in
Doctor :
not a bath tub only as such
User :   ok i got it
User :   what ointment should I use?
Doctor :   I shall suggest you taht

Doctor :
You can use Proctosedyl ointment to be used 2 times per day
Doctor :
once in the morning after motions
