Doctor :   hi
User :   Write your Health Query here and Ask a Doctor now... Hi, I have a small child of 16 months. most of the time I have noticed he figering with his ears.. We think he might be having eatching feeling in his ears
Doctor :   Dr. here. let me read what you have typed.
Doctor :   is there any discharge coming out of ears?
Doctor :   have you tried to examine his ears to see if anything is there in the ear canal?
User :   ya. once i had seen
User :   wax
Doctor :   children of small age, tend to explore out. but if wax is present, then it will cause itching
User :   yes. i have examined. Inface we use the buds to clean his ears regularly
Doctor :   avoid using ear buds, it will harm the natural process of the ear canal in putting out the wax
Doctor :   the hairs in the ear canal are faced outwards so it is easy for wax and debris to come out
User :   Ok. But I have seen it very frequent with him. Infact at times he is very stubborn and he himself puts in the bud in the ear
Doctor :   when you use buds, it actually pushes it inside causing it to be impacted leading to pain and itching
User :   Should we used any medicine
Doctor :   how does he gets the bud in his hand? you should keep it away from his reach
User :   You are right. we do try to do that
Doctor :   get him to an ENT specialist for an examination
User :   ok. thanks
Doctor :   if wax is found to be there, he will do a procedure called as 'syringing' to wash it out
Doctor :   avoid using the buds after that
Doctor :   and let the wax come out on iots own
User :   thanks for ur advise, will do that.
Doctor :   you will see it coming out, when it reaches the end of the canal and is clearly visible, then just wipe it out using a soft cloth
User :   any other precautions which we need to take care
Doctor :   especially after bath
Doctor :   look out for the repeat episodes, be vigilant that he does not put in any stuff inside his ears
Doctor :   it might damage eardrum and cause deafness
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   yes
Doctor :   is there anything else you would like to ask me?
User :   thanks for ur advise
