User :   Hello there, I did ask a doctor opinion the other time.
From june 2010 to dec 2010, my period is absence. But it came on Jan 2011 and it was light but it ended few days. And in the month of feb it came as light period as well, and this time i have spotting for 1 whole month. like theres white discharge and red blood traces. this time at march, my period as usual its light but the spotting stopped. But today i masturbated, and there's mucus and red traces of blood but around 2 days ago i have right ovary pain. but only last a few hours. And its almost ovulation time. May i know what happen to me? i am so so so worried

Doctor :   do not worry about cancer, etc, i will guide you through now.
User :   no just the other day theres right side pain like ovary pain
Doctor :   ok, does the discharge change in colour or odor?
User :   no usually its transparent jelly like
User :   like normal mucus
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   is this problem from 2010 or from the time you got your cycles in adulthood.
Doctor :   I meant the irregular cycles.
User :   yes i always have irregular cycles it got normal the other time when i lose some weight
Doctor :   ok, any history of diabetes, thyroid, high blood pressure in the family?
User :   as in my parents ?
User :   my parents dont have those
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   let me summarize it to you.
User :   ok
Doctor :   having irregular cycles is quite common.
Doctor :   more so, if there is a weight gain.
Doctor :   other problems could be cysts in the ovary, the condition known as polycystic ovarian disease PCOD.
Doctor :   it is common in young women in 20's or so.
Doctor :   very commonly showing symptoms of irregular cycles, weight gain and similar changes
Doctor :   this is a hormonal problem
Doctor :   the other reasons I can think of are thyroid abnormality, vaginal infections, or hormonal imbalances which cannot be reasoned out.
Doctor :   are you with e?
Doctor :   me*
User :   yes
Doctor :   ok
User :   but could it be cancer too?
Doctor :   there is nothing to conclude that you have a cancer.
User :   cos i masterbate today and theres blood suddenly before there are no spotting at all
Doctor :   we need to find out the common reasons before thinking of cancer.
Doctor :   I would suggest you not to worry, but go in for an examination
Doctor :   you may need these tests 1. pap smear to see the cervix cells and activity.
Doctor :   2. complete blood count
Doctor :   3. urine routine for infections
Doctor :   4. an abdominal scan
Doctor :   5. thyroid function tests
Doctor :   you need not worry as this is done for every patient with irregular cycles to find the reason.
User :   oh ok if i have PCOD is surgery need?
Doctor :   this is the general protocol followed.
Doctor :   no, generally by diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications with medicines pcod is treated.
Doctor :   surgery by ovarian drilling is a last option if medicines do not work.
User :   if its a ovarian cyst? does it require surgery?
Doctor :   if it is not pcod, hormonal changes also may be the reason.
Doctor :   no, generally by diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications with medicines pcod is treated. this is for cysts i meant.
Doctor :   surgery may not be need for cysts.
User :   but its it ok like o masterbate and theres blood trace?
Doctor :   yes, hence I advised for a pap see the cervical changes
Doctor :   if infection , some irritation , trauma is there , bleeding occurs.
User :   oh because i am virgin its ok to do pap smear too?
Doctor :   yes, there is no problem in doing a pap smear, its harmless.
Doctor :   can i know if your on any medicines?
User :   no i am not on any
Doctor :   ok thats fine.
Doctor :   do not worry, but get yourself examined.
User :   sorry to be very annoying, but i will like to ask why did u rule out as cancer?
Doctor :   cancer generally will have weight loss, fever, frequent pain associated bleed, etc.
Doctor :   and generally a family history, multiple sexual partners etc,
Doctor :   with your history, i feel its more like cysts
Doctor :   but then, I have not examined you , so a pap smear is needed to come to a conclusion.
User :   so when i go to a doctor i request for a pap smear and a ultrasound?
Doctor :   with a pap smear we will get lot of information.
Doctor :   you just have to tell the doctor your symtoms, on examination if the doctor feels, the doctor will recommend you on these tests.
User :   which is the most important cos i have limited money at the moment
User :   oh ok
Doctor :   I feel an examination will help in deciding the need for the tests
User :   but cyst doesnt required surgery unless med didnt work right?
Doctor :   yes, it does not need surgery most often , medicines and lifestyle changes take care of the problems.
Doctor :   may i know if you smoke?
User :   no i dont smoke
Doctor :   thats good.
Doctor :   control your weight and reduce stress along with this medicines will be added , and cycles will get regular.
User :   oh ok thankyou i am too afraid to go to doctor
Doctor :   do not be afraid, its just an examination which will help you for future.
Doctor :   i hope i answered your questions
Doctor :   are there any other questions i could help you with?
User :   oh! yes
User :   does the POCS causes hair loss?
User :   i been dropping more then usual hair
Doctor :   yes, it will cause hair loss, acne, and similar problems .
User :   i have acne too
Doctor :   thyroid also causes hair loss and irregular cycles with weight gain.
User :   oh i did a ultrasound scan which is around 2 year back
Doctor :   pcod presents with acne , weight gain , cysts in ovary and facial hair.
