Doctor :   hi
Doctor :
sure will explain u
Doctor :
heart has 4 chambers
Doctor :
two atria and two ventricles
Doctor :   septum means a wall like partition which divides two atria

Doctor :
aneurysm means enlargement
Doctor :
there is a bulging of the atrial septum towards one atria
Doctor :
are u there?
User :   Yes I was wondering if this is a normal situation or a problem?
Doctor :   did they mention anything about shunt?

User :   No I just had the cardiogram and didn't actually visit a cardiologist. What is shunt?
Doctor :
shunt is an abnormal opening in the septum
User :   I been feeling ok lately but sometimes an occasional heart palpatation or murmur. I work full time, and went jogging like 2 weeks ago.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
do u have any history of stroke?
User :   Is there any way to remedy the shunt
Doctor :   shunt should be closed by surgical procedures
User :   No at least not that Im aware of, but I weigh around 215, and my weight should be around 190.
Doctor :
but if there is no shunt or abnormal opening ..and just XXXXXXXX
Doctor :
If you have an atrial septal aneurysm with no shunt or flow across the aneurysm, there isn't much that needs done.
Doctor :   ok
User :   Yeah Ive was woorried about alot of the termonolgy, are there symptoms of a shunt?
Doctor :   it depends upon the direction of flow of blood in the shunt

Doctor :
what are the symptoms u are having?
User :   I sometimes feel a heavy heartbeat or palpatation or murmur sometimes. Ive been able to work, my blood pressure has yesterday was 120/84
Doctor :
ur blood pressure is fine
Doctor :
and coming to palpitations even overweight, stress can cause palpitations
Doctor :   coming to murmur..did doctor mention anything abt it?
User :   Yeah just to see a cardilologist my regular doctor said some people have septal aneurysem and some don't I hope I don't need surgery
Doctor :   murmur is abnormal sound which cannot be heard with out a steth easily.

Doctor :   XXXXXXXX itself is not an indication for surgery
Doctor :
However, there are studies demonstrating that even for people with XXXXXXXXs and no (holes allowing for shunts), the stroke risk was is slightly higher
Doctor :   but nothing to worry...
User :   I think my doctor said she may have heard a faint murmur. Is there vitamins or foods good for the heart? Are XXXXXXXXs common?
User :   My age is 41.
Doctor :
Doctor :   avoid oil foods ..and foods rich in cholesterol, red meat
Doctor :
take more fruits and vegetables
User :   Ok and excersise shouldnt be a problem,?
Doctor :
yes u should do exerscise regularly
User :   Ok will do. I will keep after it and Im more relieved to know a shunt or XXXXXXXX is normal in some people. Happy Thanksgiving.
Doctor :   welcome
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
