User :   Hello dr. i wanted to ask you something about hpv

User :   i was sexually active in september
User :   and i got my first pap smear done end of april which is 7 months

User :   there were no abnormals cells found neither there was any infection found
User :   so does that mean i am fine ?

User :   it was pap test for hpv

Doctor :   If the test show no abnormal then you need not worry.
User :   when the infection can be detected ?
Doctor :   If there is any abnormality in cell, then it is suspected for HPV infection.
Doctor :   Once the abnormality is detected then a DNA testing is done to confirm infection.
User :   yeah but after how many months of exposure that is what im asking
Doctor :   It depends on the sub types. it may take 1 month to years.
Doctor :   Usually it will taken after 6 months.
User :   i got it in the 7th month

Doctor :   They might want to repeat it after 6 months.
