Doctor :   Ok
User :   i just had my HPV DNA test
User :   which came out negative
User :   i was sexually active almost 2 yrs back
Doctor :   Ok
User :   and this was my first time i had my HPV DNA test
User :   so does this mean i dont have hpv at all ?
Doctor :   Yes, it does mean there is no HPV in your system
User :   so i will never get hpv if i stick with the same partner, and ofcourse if he doesnt have it ?
Doctor :   Right, there shall be no transmission
Doctor :   and hence safe
User :   so 2 yrs is enough time to detect hpv on dna test ?
Doctor :   Yes, it is more than enough
User :   how long does it take generally to show up on DNA test?
Doctor :   It does show within a few days
User :   because i heard hpv is dormant as well
Doctor :   Yes it is
Doctor :   but since you have got a PCR done
Doctor :   it is quite sensitive test
Doctor :   and hence should be safe
User :   PCR is DNA test?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   it detects hpv if even its dormant?
Doctor :   It detects the active one in the blood stream
Doctor :   dormant one becomes active most of the times
Doctor :   when one's immunity is low
User :   but isnt it 2 yrs long period of time ?
Doctor :   Dormant one does not cause any harm
Doctor :   Yes, it is
Doctor :   but if the virus is in dormant stage, there is no problem
User :   but it can still effect my partner or me later in life
Doctor :   The progress of it cannot be predicted
Doctor :   if one's immune system is competent enough
Doctor :   then dorman virus does not cause any issue inspite of being affected
Doctor :   it shall remain like commensal bacteria, if you are aware of
Doctor :   they are present in most of the body parts
Doctor :   without causing any problems
User :   well it has been 2 yrs and i got dna test done, my physician said it will stay the same if i dont change any partners
