My main question is is this one of the worst kind of ovarian cancer because there's not really tumors?
User :   What exactly does papillary mean?
Doctor :   Give me a moment, let me read your query
Doctor :   The signifies the type of cell involved
User :   The signifies?
User :   you mean papillary?
Doctor :   The cell involved
Doctor :   Let me breif you'
User :   are you saying papillary cells?
Doctor :   No
Doctor :   Its a vascular connective tissue covered by neoplastic epithelium, projecting into cysts or the cavity of glands or follicles.
Doctor :   Are you taking any chemotherapy sessions
User :   since I XXX
User :   sorry
Doctor :   Is your throid affected
Doctor :   *thyroid
User :   since I have had chemo since the beginning of this, and only about a 6-month remission, they say I probably have 2 years left. I have a thyroid problem but they haven't ever put the two together or acted as though it has anything to do with the thyroid.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   my last CT scan showed more lymph node involvement and they are bigger, but I was told it was insignificant and not to worry about it and I was told I had mesentery thickening in the upper abdomen, but not significant and not to worry about it
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Generally metastasis occurs through lymph nodes hence you find the inflamation
User :   That's what confused me when they say no need to worry
Doctor :   Yes you dont have to worry much until it produces discomfort'
User :   I have pain in two ribs
User :   and one area in the lower left side of abdomen
Doctor :   Did your CT show lung involvement?
User :   no
Doctor :   Is it like pleural pain/ rub
Doctor :   Does it increase while breathing?
Doctor :   Any history of fall
User :   it actually feels like the pain is in the rib - no history of falling
Doctor :   Ok
User :   doesn't increase when breathing
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   then most probably due to lymph node involvement
Doctor :   is the concerned to axillary region too?
User :   I'm taking Fetynal patches
Doctor :   Those are good pain killers
User :   I don't know what the axillary region is
Doctor :   they will help you
Doctor :   Arm pits
User :   they are
User :   no
Doctor :   In your condition the cells of the lungs are replaced by papillary growths which will also cause the pain
Doctor :   The malignant cells of the tumor form complex papillary structures and exhibit compressive, destructive growth that replaces the normal lung tissue. causing the pain
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting for me
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi
Doctor :   DrXXX here
User :   Good!
Doctor :   I was answering about pain in ribs right?
Doctor :   Did you follow me
User :   Yes, and I was asking if you thought 2 years sounds about right from the things I've told you or is that impossible to even give an educated guess?
Doctor :   i did not get your question
User :   So even though there's nothing showing in the lungs, this rib pain could be lung involvement?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   They told me they had no idea why I was hurting. This is a big hospital in XXX - working with a researcher oncologist.
Doctor :   Adenocarcinoma of the lung tends to stain mucin positive as it is derived from the mucus producing glands of the lungs. Similar to other adenocarcinoma, if this tumor is well differentiated (low grade) it will resemble the normal glandular structure. Poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma will not resemble the normal glands (high grade) and will be detected by seeing that they stain positive for mucin.
Doctor :   As you said your stage 3c metastasis is more obvois
User :   Mine is poorly differentiated, high grade.
Doctor :   *obvious
User :   so 2 years could be true
User :   I'm not trying to get you to say something you don't feel comfortable wth and I've signed all the disclaimers
Doctor :   Probably, depends on how well your body copes up with chemotherapy
Doctor :   Some may have prolonged span also
User :   I am getting my first break in 2 years. I don't go back until September 14. I've most recently been on Avastin and Taxol.
Doctor :   Wish you have a longer one
Doctor :   Ok
User :   Ok, well, I'll print this out and try to take it all in a little better. Nice talking to you Dr.
Doctor :   Is there anything else i can help you with?
User :   No, I don't think so. Thanks. I think I hit the "high" points. :-)
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   God bless you.
User :   God bless you too. Thank you!
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   Bye.
