User:my baby is 3.5 months old now
User:she had cold and cough 2 weeks back
User:now she has mild cold with some sound when she breaths
User:i had taken her to Pediatrist y'day
User:for her 3.5 months general vaccination
User:when i mentioned the above problem to him
User:he has suggested Sinarest syrup of 1ML 3 times a day along with Taxim - 0 if 1ML 2 times a day
User:for 5 days
User:my query is
User:is Sinarest is also required along with the other one that he has suggested ?
Doctor:Sinarest is a medication that contains combination of analgesic which reduces inflammation/fever, antihistamines useful for allergy and caffeine that prevents drowsiness which can occur due to antihistamine.
User:is it ok of only Taxim-0 is given to her for 5 days 1ML -2 times a day ?
Doctor:This is one medication that is commonly prescribed for nasal and chest congestion.
Doctor:Taxim o is an antibiotic given to treat infection.
Doctor:looks like your child has upper respiratory tract infection with congestion,
Doctor:hence these medicines is prescribed/
Doctor:continue to use them as suggested to you.
Doctor:if the symptoms do not improve in 2-3 days time, you may review back with your pediatrician.
Doctor:Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:i have one more query
User:Sinarest syrup as per the manufacturer for babies b/w 1-6 we are supposed to give only 0.2 ML each time
User:but ped has suggest 1ML for each time is that fine ?
User:wont it be over dosage ?
User:or some thing like that ?
Doctor:The dose of the medication depends upon the current body weight of the child along with the severity of the symptoms.
User:and one more clarification
User:is Pneumonea vaccination is important ?
User:to give it to infants ?
User:or is it optional ?
Doctor:According to the National immunization schedule it is not a compulsory vaccination and is only a optional vaccine.
Doctor:However due to the recent health concerns like bird flu, H1N1 and others,
Doctor:it might be a good option to give all infants pneumonia vaccine which can protect against some influenza virus (cause for bird flu, H1N1)
Doctor:Have you followed what I have suggested?
User:yes thanks
User: XXXXXXX here
Doctor:Welcome back
User:i wanted to clarify some thing about my baby's madication

Doctor:yes, it is oral drops
Doctor:its not a nasal solution
User:i mixed the powder with distilled water that is given with the powder

User:ok .. right now i am planning to use the medication as suggested by her ped...
Doctor:using a steamer, prevents hot water spilling onto young infants
Doctor:yes, you can do that , as advice
User:and one more query
Doctor:sure ..
User:my Gyne has suggested some powder to take along with the milk - Mashyme - Cholecakciferol Granules
User:he has stopped me to take iron and calcium from now on
User:he has suggested me to take Zevit for 20 days
Doctor:Mashyme - Cholecakciferol contains vitamin D , in it
User:ok .. why is it required during this time ?
Doctor:it is important, as through breast milk, babies get the vitamin D
Doctor:and this is a very essential vitamin, needed for proper growth and develpment
User:and one more thing i wanted clarify
Doctor:zevit is a B complex Capsule , and is given for general nutrition
User:ok .. usually for women who are feeding their babies are suggested to take iron and calcium until they feed .. but i have been suggested to stop the same even though i am feeding
User:why is that ?
Doctor:Do u have any issues like constipation or black stools ?
User:not really .. but if iron tablets are taken then stools is black as per my knowledge ..
Doctor:yes, that is right
User:i do not have constipation problem also
Doctor:In case, your hemoglobin is normal, then it may be the case for your doctor for the advice
Doctor:but there is no need for stopping them, generally
Doctor:you can continue to use them , if you do not have such issues, and also issues like stomach pain (gastritis), etc
User:actually no blood test done ... just BP and weight was verified which were normal
User:and one more query
Doctor:In addition, taking other cost effective Vitamin D supplements may also be effective
User:ok i am planning to go back to work after 2 months
User:my baby would have been 5.5 months by then
User:for her to get adjusted with her diet and also me getting adjusted .. how do i procced
User:i mean
User:i can feed her only in the morning and evening once i am back from office
Doctor:first and foremost, you can continue to breast feed her,
Doctor:this can be done , by expressing the breast milk, via a breast pump
Doctor:you can store the milk, in a sterilised bottle and can keep in the refrigerator, for some time
Doctor:and keeping it out, for 20 -30 mins before feeding the baby, would be fine
Doctor:you can also start top feeds, for your baby, after 4 months
User:what can be given ?
User:as a top feed ?
Doctor:so, you can mix and match, as per your needs
User:what all can be given as a top feed ?
Doctor:mashed rice, banana, milk, cerelac, mashed oranges, and other fruits like sapota can be given
Doctor:all should be in the fluid form, so that the baby can feed it properly
User:got it
User:i am done sir .. thanks for ur time and information .. nice talking to u
