How can I help you?
My son is suffering from fever for the last four days...
We took him to the hospital on Monday...
he said he will have high temperature for three days...
we have been giving Pacimol continuosly...
he did not have fever yesterday,,,,,
he again got it today...
he is not at all eating...
he is not able to sit....he is always lying down
he has temperature now...
btw he is 20 months
I need to know few more details to guide you better.
Is he having any other symptoms, other than fever?
he has light cough
Is his temperature as high as previous days?
He had very severe temperature on Monday and Tuesday!
he was ok yesterday...
Is he on any other medications other than Pacimol?
Was his condition diagnosed as Viral Fever?
The doctor said it could be viral fever.,...
Was any investigations done?
and so it could be there for 5 days,..
no....the doc just checked him...
Thanks for the information given. let me guide you through this.
I also checked with my friend who is a doc...just a while back
He suggested an antibiotic....Amoxycilin....
I just checked his temperature,,,,,it is 99.4
but not much temp in his body.,. I am feeling it on is head....
According to the history you have given, it seems to be Viral fever.
should i try the anti-biotic...?
In my experience, Viral fever stays for around 5-7 days.
I would not suggest an antibiotic until he has an ongoing infection/
I would suggest you to wait for another 1-2 days. It should get better.
in case, it is not getting better, surely you need to get back to the doctor who has examined him in the first place.
should i better i go to the hospital tomorrow?
Further tests would be required then.
I would suggest you to take him to the same doctor who examined him previously.
it would be easier for the doctor to find the changes.
You can take him tomorrow.
Meanwhile, continue with the same medications.
the doctor also said that we will wait for 3-4 days...if no improvement..then he wanted to test for Dengue fever...
Yes. That should be done.
I am little worried....
Is there any symptom?
You need not worry. This is a very common occurrence to have a viral fever.
In case of dengue fever, the child will be always crying and lethargic.
Again, dengue fever is a viral fever too. So the symptoms will be similar.
Some cases of dengue may show blood in urine or stool. Bleeding from gums while brushing can also be noted.
So, if the fever does not subside further investigations to rule out the causes of fever will be required.
Ok doctor...I will rush to the hospital tomorrow...
If I were in your place, I would not worry now, as the fever is coming down slowly. And I would wait till tomorrow and then XXXXXXX the same doctor for further investigations.
My main concern is that he is not eating....
Please do not worry. I do not find anything critical in the history you have given.
Even when adults have fever, we do not feel like eating anything.
So that is an expected part of fever.
he is always feeling like lying down....and not active...however, he was very active yesterday
But, make sure he takes plenty of water and juices.
you mean fruit juices?
fresh fruit juice...he has cough.....is it ok?>
That is fine. But don't give him cold juice.
Cough will also come down with fresh juice such as orange.
he doesn't drink that...that is another problem..
anyways...we will try again..
Don't push it too hard.
Just be soft, and try give him in a spoon little by little.
Water intake should be maintained.
he is drinking more water....
That is good news.
So relax, and wait till tomorrow.
I wish and pray it is not Dengue..:-(
Thank you so much doctor...
Hope this discussion had been useful. Is there anything else I can assist you on?
for your kind information I am giving the Pacimol (3ml) for every five hours!
the doc suggested for every six hours..
should that be ok....
That is fine. You can give upto every four hours. Now, since the fever has come down, you can make it every 6 hours.
OK Doc. Yes this has been a great discussion. I really love this facility.
I do not think it is dengue. But then, it can be confirmed only by an investigation.
Thanks for consulting me.
Relax and have a Good Night!
Bye for now.
