Infant putting pressure to pass motion but unable to do. Harmful to body? How to ease it? - Online Doctor Chats
How can I help you?
i have a 1 month old baby and the question was regardin him
he often tries to put pressure to pass motion but is unable to
will this be harmful on his body?
is there any way to ease his process?
like feed water etc?
How many times in a day does he pass stool?
Does he cry while passing stool?
but he puts effort and is unable to
no does not
If your child is comfortable while passing stool then I don't think there is some problem.
but is there something we can do to ease his struggle?
Moreover 3-5 episodes of stool also is normal.
As the diet of the newborn is restricted only to breast milk,
diet modification doesn't apply here.
Further laxatives are helpful if the frequency of stool is reduced or if there is painful defection.
From where I see, your son is very comfortable
and he doesn't need any laxatives.
Have you followed?
didnt understand that
Laxatives or stool softeners are classified medication that helps to soften stools and prevent constipation / painful defecation.
Your son seems alright to me.
Do not worry.
Watch his symptoms.
If the number of stools fall to less than one or zero in 2-3 days
or if there is cry while passing stool
or if there is abdominal distension
Do you have any other query?
he generally cries
but thats when he passes urine as well
probably because of wettness and irritation
I agree with you XXXXXXX
so we need to obsrve specifically for stool as well
earlier for stool he used to cry, but immediately after cleaning he would be silent
so we assume it was due to irritation
If he is comfortable and the number of stools passed is normal, then I don't think there is some abnormalitly.
The next time you XXXXXXX your pediatrician,
you may report this problem to him/her.
sure doctor. thank you and have a nice day......
He/she can examine his anal region and confirm what I just said.
