User:hi doctor
User:i have a query for my child who is 27 days old
Doctor:Please proceed
User:my child had not passed stool since last 2 to 3 days.. and hence he was throwing up from mouth and nose
User:so my mother in law inserted a hallen suppository (infant) in the rectum
User:so that the child passess stool
Doctor:Is the babies abdomen distended ?
User:after instering the same, still he didnt pass stool nor does the suppository came out
User:only few water came out
User:how safe is it? and what do i need to do next
User:i am worried as stool was not passed also the suppository inserter did not come out
User:what do i do next
Doctor:Its very common for the neonates to present this way
Doctor:What type of suppository inserter do you mean ?
User:There is suppository names as Hallens laxative for infant upto 6 years of old.. it is of 1 gm
User:I understand that neonates behave that way.. but i am worried as nothing came out.. hope the child does not have any problem
Doctor:the medication will get absorbed
User:so does that mean that the suppository gets dissolved.. and i do not need to be worried about the same
Doctor:i would suggest you to wait for another day with a second dose of supppository . If the condition do not get resolved then you may have to take the baby for examination
Doctor:yes, need not worry about the suppository
Doctor:may the fluid which came out is the part of dissolved medication
User:that should be the dissolved medication...
User:thanks doctor for the help and guidance
Doctor:do watch baby's abdomen and skin color
User:Why.. is there something to worry about
Doctor:if there is any overt distension and jaundice do rush to the hospital soon
User:the baby skin colour has changed a little
User:what is overt distension
Doctor:distension where you can feel air in the abdomen
User:OK.. what about the skin colour.. we feel the colour has changed to little towards greyside on the legs
User:instead of normal pink
Doctor:No I meant , yellow color change
User:ok doctor.. i will take care of that
Doctor:this indicates jaundice due to reabsorption of bile from the gut
User:thanks doctor for the help at this hour of the day
