User :   After 10 days of an almost no fat weight loss diet, fasting blood test showed 70 points INCREASE in LDL level. Is that possible? (The first test was 30 days before the diet began). I'm a healthy female, about 40 pounds overweight - moderate exercise - always watching intake but trying to loose weight now. The increase in cholesterol has me puzzled and worried.
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Dr here
User :   Hello, can you give me some feedback on the question above?
Doctor :   yes,
Doctor :   the both are expected readings in dieting
Doctor :   May i know the LDL value ?
User :   The first test was 207 total cholestrol. the test yesterday was 276 with the increase only in ldl
User :   for a total of 186 ldl.
Doctor :   ok, may i know the LDL levels in specific ?
Doctor :   ok, i get it
User :   My concern is primairly that I had been for 10 days on a no fat diet and it went up this much.
Doctor :   well its in borderline range and its a very expected phenomenon
User :   Chlorestesrol is not related to recent intake?
Doctor :   this will happen , as the body senses the low calorie intake and try to pull energy from storage like fat reserves in the body this leads to increase the blood cholesterol and fee fatty acids
User :   Like, it is my own fat raising the levels?
Doctor :   loosing weight starts from loosing the fat first
Doctor :   yes, its the stored fat getting into the blood and being used
User :   Ah yes, and that is what I'm trying to do! So, I guess my worry is not necessary?
Doctor :   yes , you have to be happy though
Doctor :   the effort is working
Doctor :   but for safety you still have to keep an eye on the values
Doctor :   lower your calorie intake such that the LDL should not rise above 210 and more
Doctor :   getting lipid profile every three months would be sufficient
User :   Thank you very much, I have actually lost 12 pounds, according to the doctor's office scale ( the one that counts) and this information will prevent me from concern about it backfiring on my overall health. Thank you.
Doctor :   Good, take time
Doctor :   You are welcome
User :   Aloha
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
User :   How?
Doctor :   you will guided after closing this window
User :   alright, will do.
Doctor :   Bye for now
