Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
How can I help you?
User :   Hi ....... i need help to cure my thyroid prob
Doctor :
Sure
Doctor :
You may proceed with your query
User :   in aug'09 i did my thyroid test & my tsh detected was 5.81 so my gynac suggested me thyronorm with 25mcg & said to do thyroid test after a month so in sept'09 i did the test & my tsh level increased to 7 ......... i am worried abt other probs due to thyroid like hair fall, feeling lethargy all the time, joint/muscle pains
Doctor :
Let me read it
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :   May I know your age, location, height and weight?
User :   28 years single (soon to be married), 5'2" current weight may be between 67-68 not 2 sure
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
So do you feel that you are slightly overweight?
User :   i feel that i am absolutely overweight
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :   Your thyroid levels are near normal only
Doctor :
I mean to say about your first reading
Doctor :
But the second reading indicates that you are hypothyroid
Doctor :
even in spite of treatment
Doctor :   Are you there?

User :   yes sir
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
So do you see any changes in your weight since August?
User :   increasing .......... inbetween it do came down to 661/2 but again went p
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Like what was your weight before August?
Doctor :
or in August to be more specific
User :   65-67
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   So there is not much change
User :   yeh
Doctor :
May I know from where did you get your tests done?
Doctor :
Both first as well as second one
User :   metropolis
Doctor :
Also why did the doctor suspect thyroid problem?
Doctor :
Like did you have any symptoms as such
User :   to just brief u abt my history
Doctor :
Please
User :   my weight was increasing despite eating nothing ......... i was not feel like eating nything ............ but everytime i used to weigh my weight increases this is happening since last dec'08 ...........
Doctor :
Ok
User :   i never eat cakes, pastries, chocolates but yes i do eat rice
Doctor :
So you are confident that your diet is pretty healthy
User :   so i consulted my gynac she suggested may be due to hormonal probs so i did my hormones tes also which was negative
Doctor :
Ok
User :   & earlier when i did thyrodi in dec'08, then in jan'09 & then in mar'09 it was normal
Doctor :   Fine
Doctor :   How about your physical activity?
User :   nothing ..........
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Cant you do something about that?
User :   yes ......... i have started walking but cant do it on daily basis as i told u i get tired very easily & then at night due to pain i am unable to sleep
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :   As such I cannot come to a conclusion that you are affected with thyroid problems
Doctor :
yours is a mild case
User :   but doctor ...........if my weight is not reduced ......... it will be a prob for me
Doctor :
You have also been started on a mild dosage
Doctor :
So you can continue with the medication
Doctor :
It will aid you in loosing weight
Doctor :
but you cannot depend solely on that
Doctor :   Firstly I want to advise you that you are not a thyroid patient
Doctor :
and so you should give no excuses to exercise
Doctor :
The discomfort you are facing initially is because you are not accustomed to it
Doctor :
and also because of excess weight
Doctor :
which will gradually subside
User :   i have joined a weight loss program where the dietcian has told me that my dosage of thyroid is very mild it has to be increased is it tru doc ?? & secondly i am also taking weight loss & thyroid tablets
Doctor :
So you need to start you exercise on a routine basis
User :   is walking will be enough
Doctor :   Very much
Doctor :
Nothing more than that is required
Doctor :
But continuing it regularly is the key
Doctor :   wrt to your query regarding dosage
Doctor :   I would suggest you to repeat your thyroid profile
User :   i has just few days b4 did when i came to know that it is 7
Doctor :
because there is a mismatch b/w your readings
Doctor :
Just to reconfirm it
Doctor :
I would suggest it
Doctor :
One more thing for your knowlede
Doctor :
So if it still shows the same reading
Doctor :
then it will be an absolute indication to increase your dosage and set the things right
Doctor :
Is that ok with you?
User :   didnt get u mismatch in reading means
Doctor :
Means the 5+ reading increasing to 7 in spite of treatment
Doctor :
To add more to it, your levels were normal before August
Doctor :
March if I am not wrong
User :   yeh
Doctor :
So that suggests that right now there is a chance that you are in the initial stages
Doctor :
But since there is a bit of mismatch I would advise you to get it tested again
Doctor :
for the benefit of doubt
Doctor :
Let me add that overweight adds on to such problems
Doctor :
So if you are on a routine exercise you can reverse those changes
Doctor :
though actual weightloss takes sometime
Doctor :
Are you getting it?
User :   ok doc .......... can u plz tell me what r my chances of getting back to normal in case i am actually suffreing from thyroid because as i said my hair is thinning i am afraid i go bald & my skin has also lost its lusture & my marriage is fixed in dec'09
Doctor :
In India there is a high incidence of hypothyroidism among females
Doctor :
But the positive side is very good treatment is available
Doctor :
to bring them back to normal range
Doctor :
So you need not have even a trace of such worry in your mind
Doctor :
If it is still showing high
Doctor :
your dosage will be adjusted to get a good response
Doctor :
Only difference b/w thyroid and normal person
Doctor :
is that thyroid affected person will be taking a tablet
Doctor :
Thats all
Doctor :
Moreover your exercise will help your treatment and vice-versa
