Hypertrophy of prostate. Suggested hernia operation. Any problems if not operated? - Online Doctor Chats
I am XXXXXXX
I am Dr xxxxxxx
How can I help you today?
I want to ask something about my papa's health problem
he is a 70 years old
his prostate weight is 88 gm
pain is not there
So you mean he has hypertrophy of prostate
right now dr suggest him to operate hernia
after that prostate
but he does not want to go for surgery
we are very much worry about these
ok I think I understood what you want to ask?
pls give me suggestion
How is he doing without surgery?
I want you to understand that it is not an emergency.
It is his body. If I am his doctor , I will respect his wishes.
It is against medical ethics to force someone to go for treatment against his wishes.
he is doing everything,heavy lifting,cycling, household work,everything
It is like entering someone's house and changing all the furniture without the owner's permission..
It is illegal.
No matter how much you are worried about the patient, it is still his wish.
Even if it was an emergency, still it would have been his wish to get treatment or not.
righ t now he is taking contiflo-D and veltom+ for smooth urin
It is better to discuss the benefits and risks of surgery with the doctor too.
All surgeries have some side-effects.
That is what your dad is worried about.
dr told its a emergency
my q is
right now if he is not go for surgery ,its harmful for him?
Does your dad know about it?
he is worried about post-operation situation
pls suggest me
Yes, I understand his concerns.
It is better to have a detailed discussion again with the physician in the presence of your dad.
Again I will respect his decision.
now his age is 70
he is a very energetic person, these age he can do anything
okay, its better to disscussion again
It is very human at this age to be concerned with any surgery.
okay, thank u very much for u r discussion
So do not be concerned.
You can take your father when you visit the surgeons next time.
You can discuss with him about the cause of emergency.
If there is still some time available before you opt for the surgery, then with a proper talk with his surgeons will clarify his doubts and prepare him for his surgery.
I may be able to explain better if you can describe his symptoms to me?
I have to close this window as you are not responding.
