User :   This is my first time using one of these forums but I feel the need to reach out and try to obtain some type of answer as I have been to the doctor and obtained an ultrasound. About around Thanksgiving time this year I went to get an ultrasound for a lump I had found on top of my right testicle. The doctor beforehand thought it was a cyst and when I had obtained the ultrasound it turned out it was and also a possible "hyrdroclene" [disregard spelling] in there. The last few days I have been doing self checks and feel I possibly maybe I have squeezed something to hard causing an ache... Anyways, the cyst feels a big bigger from when I believe it was diagnosed, maybe a bit harder also, but an ache (not unbearable) has come forth and want to know if I should be concerned since I had an ultrasound a month ago with no present diagnosis of cancer or anything serious. My question is should "cancer" be a concern because of this new ache or if it was even slightly cancer would it have shown up on the original ultrasound a month ago? I'd like to put my mind at ease here because I hate worrying.. life is to short. My last question would be what is possibly causing the ache, could it possibly be an inflamed cyst or anything of that nature?
Thanks In Advance.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Dr here
User :   Hello Dr.
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   thank you
Doctor :   may i know your age please ?
User :   19 years old
Doctor :   have you lost weight recently ?
User :   no I don't believe so
Doctor :   ok lets talk about your fears first
Doctor :   and put them to rest
User :   ok great
Doctor :   It seems you have moved out of the chat window. Please log in back if you have medical queries
User :   here I am
User :   sorry about that
User :   are you still there?
Doctor :   no problem
Doctor :   yes i am here
User :   ok let's get to it
Doctor :   sure
Doctor :   now to begin with YOU DONT HAVE any typical signs and symptoms that will illustrate a cancer
Doctor :   that i can assure you
Doctor :   hydrocele is a diagnosis of physical examination
User :   ok great the only symptom I present is just an ache on the top of my right testicle that's about it possibly a little lower right back pain but it's faded away
Doctor :   Hydroceles are usually not dangerous, and they are usually only treated when they cause discomfort or embarrassment, or if they are large enough to threaten the testicle's blood supply.
User :   my general concern is would an ultrasound have ruled out anything serious a month ago that could have shown up as of today?
Doctor :   yes a ultrasound would have shown a hard consistency also along with serious symptoms
User :   how long typically is an ultrasound good for? in other words if cancer had begun as of now would it have shown up a few weeks ago on that ultrasound?
Doctor :   you would have lost 35% of your body weight in testicular cancer
Doctor :   and then it would have been a very hard consistency nodule
Doctor :   One option is to remove the fluid in the scrotum with a needle, a process called aspiration. However, surgery is generally preferred. Aspiration may be the best alternative for people who have certain surgical risks.
User :   okay well that is good news. Now so like I said if it had been cancer it would have at least minimally appeared on the ultrasound correct?
User :   even though it was weeks ago?
User :   and what could be causing this dull ache? as I said it feels a bit harder and bigger but the doctor told me it was purely a cyst
Doctor :   yes you see like you told me that you do feel it growing in size right
User :   yes a bit with a bit of hardness but not "hard" as a rock
User :   still a bit squishy you might say
Doctor :   well that is a cyst dont worry
Doctor :   now let me tell you your options
User :   okay great see that was just my general concern, this new found ache had me worried it had developed into cancer even though the ultrasound said it wasn't. I was really concerned about how ultrasound results worked.
Doctor :   i can understand your concern at this age
Doctor :   dont worry
User :   ok great thank you so much doctor, have a good day.
