User :   My daughter is 21 and has type 1 diabetes (11 yrs now) she is just starting a workout routine at a gym-she loves to run tho has not exercised much in the past few years since starting college-she walks at a fast pace and her heart rate reaches 170 and the monitor warns her this is dangerous-so she goes back to the cool down and is getting discouraged because she is afraid and starts to have a panic frenzy-any suggestions?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello
User :   are you an endocrinolgist by chance?
User :   heart dr?
Doctor :   I am a General Physician, I believe I can help you within my expertise and If required I shall recommend a specialist.
User :   thnx
User :   my daughter's general health is good, her a1c is a little hi and is trying to become more active and get her diet controlled but she and I are concerned with her heart rate it is normally about 72
User :   resting
Doctor :   Was the high heart confirmed by a GP on physical examination ?
User :   as I started by saying this is while at the gym and while working out and the machines have built in heart monitors and she wears one during workouts
User :   her heart rate normally is about 72 and has been for some time on examination
User :   her bp is generally running 110/72
User :   her last hba1c was 8.6
User :   she is 21, weighs 150 and is 5'2"
Doctor :   ok, the readings are fine except her Hb A1c
User :   so when she is working out her heart rate should be 170 or higher and we should not be concerned? I know that her a1c should be between a 6 and 7
Doctor :   170 is more , but with the glucose levels being more , there should be no much concern as the metabolism will also be high then
User :   so she should continue her workout routine and this will adjust as the blood sugars are lowered and she whould not worry that there are any heart health issues here?
Doctor :   yes,
Doctor :   also ask her to go for measures to alleviate stress , like meditation
User :   ok thnx
Doctor :   you are welcome
