Doctor :   I think its high time you have to stop medication for GERD and Hiatus hernia
User :   oh and spirolactin
Doctor :   You should get a surgery done , which is pretty easy and not a cumbersome process
User :   I dont take medication for gerd what ever that is sorry I have only just taken some gaviscon the last couple of nights
User :   I just dont understand why this has happened the last couple months
Doctor :   Gaviscon is basically an anatacid to prevent acid reflux in hiatus hernia
Doctor :   As the sphincters do not work any more and the contents in the stomach are usually found in esophagus due to this
Doctor :   Hope you are trying to understand my point .
Doctor :   There is a new method of key hole surgery for hiatus hernia which is very easy and simple and will help you better.
Doctor :   Histal hernias are repaired using a procedure known as Nissen fundoplication, which is surgery to repair a bulging (herniation) of stomach tissue through the muscle between the abdomen and chest (diaphragm) into the chest (hiatal hernia).
Doctor :   While the patient is deep asleep and pain-free (general anesthesia), the stomach and lower esophagus are placed back into the abdominal cavity. The opening in the diaphragm (hiatus) is tightened and the stomach is stitched in position to prevent reflux. The upper part of the stomach (fundus) may be wrapped around the esophagus (fundoplication) to reduce reflux.
Patients may need to spend 3 to 10 days in the hospital after surgery.
Doctor :   Please dont worry, it will help you a lot and reduce the no . of medicines you take every day.Thank you for consulting me.Do you have anything else to ask ?
User :   ok so in other words there is nothing I can do to get some sleep in the mean time until I ask my doctor about surgery and he might not agree to it with my heart condition
Doctor :   Please take zantac 2 tabs per day
Doctor :   one before lunch
Doctor :   and one before dinner
Doctor :   Bye for now
