User :   I started my my period on Feb. 4th and it was mostly the brown mixed with normal discharge until the next morning. I have a 30 day cycle that always starts on the 6th of the month so this was a little early. Then I bled pretty heavy, which is normal for me, for about 3 days and then it turned into the brownish stuff again for the most part. Yesterday the brown was subsiding so I thought my period was over because that's what it usually does...Then last night I felt a cramp that felt just like it normally does on the first few days of my period and went to the bathroom to check it out. I sat down and went pee then wiped and realized it was bright red, so I stood up to look in the toilet and there was blood in it and then it started running down my leg. I sat back down and blood literally poured out of me for less than 1 minute, then it slowed to where there would just be red if I wiped. This was different then a normal period, the blood was BRIGHT red and thin, almost watery. I decided since I didn't have any pain aside from the one cramp to put a tampon in and go to bed. When I woke up this morning I took the tampon out and it was mostly brown....what's going on? I normally bleed for 6-7 days, I have NEVER bled more days than that. I have also never had a period start and stop at the end of it, it's always in the middle. I had unprotected sex about 2 days before my period started, is it possible I'm pregnant?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
let me read it
User :   it's really pleasant ... lol but I'm sure you've heard worse
Doctor :
i would like to ask some relevant questions.
User :   Ok
Doctor :
Please give your Age, Location, Occupation, Marital status.
User :   How is that relevant?
Doctor :   for documentation purpose
Doctor :
and some for medical purpose
User :   24, engaged
Doctor :
are you on any medication?
User :   no
User :   I have been taking a normal multi-vitamin and an omega 3 vitamin this last week
Doctor :   Do you have history of Diabetes/ High Blood pressure/ Thyroid/ Heart disease?
User :   No, my family has a history of diabetes and high blood pressure I believe, but I have never experienced any symptoms, etc.
Doctor :   i will explain
Doctor :
the chances of pregnancy are unlikely
Doctor :
The chances are almost nil.
User :   Ok.
Doctor :   If the only unprotected sexual intercourse was only a few days prior to periods.
Doctor :
Occasional excessive bleeding can occur due to hormonal changes.
Doctor :
They could be related to the stress.
Doctor :   The other cause for such heavy bleeding may be infection and other uterine problems.
Doctor :
Since these problems are for the first time and your bleeding is settling down.
Doctor :
I suggest, that you to consider healthy diet and to continue with your multivitamin pills.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   Well I'm sure that we had unprotected sex before that because we're trying to concieive, but I'm not exactly sure on which days, could you bleed that much while pregnant? I did take a home test and it was negative 2 days ago.
User :   Yes I have followed, thank you. I have been eating pretty healthy but my diet is pretty low in carbs right now could that contribute as well?
Doctor :
Any alterations during the periods with history of unprotected sex during the fertile period of menstruation can indicate pregnancy.
Doctor :
If you have had unprotected sex during those periods, you may repeat the pregnancy test a week later.
Doctor :
To check if this is a sign of pregnancy.
User :   Not really, last month it started 2 days early then this month it started early again but other then that it was pretty consistent on the 6th of the month lasting for no more then 7 days
Doctor :
Doctor :
So there has been signs of hormonal irregularities before too.
User :   Just in the last 2 months
Doctor :   These acute changes may be due to the hormonal changes secondary to the stressors.
Doctor :
Hence appropriate stress management in the form of good sleep is also needed.
Doctor :
Continue with these measures to avoid such episodes in the future.
User :   Ok, well I'll keep an eye on it then.
Doctor :
And get the repeat pregnancy tests a week later, just to check for pregnancy.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   Ok I'll do that as well, thank you!
Doctor :
Do you have any other query?
User :   I don't think so, thank you
Doctor :   please fill the feed back form too.
