Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Based on the description of your symptoms, you are probably having otitis media.
Doctor :   This refers to inflammation of the middle ear.
Doctor :   The commonest cause for it is infection. Trauma being the next commonest.
Doctor :   It may have resulted as a continuation of your previous illness or due to a fresh infection.
User :   Ok
Doctor :   Since you do not have fever, the nature of infection may probably be a virus.
Doctor :   I shall suggest you few measures that may be helpful.
Doctor :   1. Since the present nature of infection is viral type, it will be a self limiting one. Hence you need not worry.
User :   okay... :)
Doctor :   2. Watch out for these symptoms.
Doctor :   Ear pain, if the discharge becomes profuse or you notice pus discharge from the ear, high grade fever.
Doctor :   3. Incase you develop any such symptoms, you would need antibiotic therapy or more specific treatment based on examination findings.
Doctor :   In such instants, you would need to consult an ENT surgeon.
Doctor :   4. Chewing and swallowing helps to some extent in relieving the discharge and inflammation.
Doctor :   Hence you can try swallowing, or use of chewing gums regularly for a few days.
Doctor :   5. Try to keep your ears dry and do not apply water into them.
Doctor :   keeping the ears dry means the use of cotton buds and do not insert and foreign bodies into the ear.
User :   Ok, I had ear discharge earlier when I had pain last week
Doctor :   Lastly if your symptoms persists or if you notice severe ear discharge, do not hesitate to consult your doctor or an ENT Surgeon.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes
User :   Can I use 'oflacin' ear drops for time being?
Doctor :   Since you do not have ear ache, or fever, I would suggest you to avoid the use of oflacin ear drops.
Doctor :   Since you have ear discharge, the use of ear discharge is advisable only after you have been examined by a doctor.
User :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   do u know any ENT specialist . I hope you are from Bangalore :)
Doctor :   Give me a minute.

Doctor :   you can consult any of them based on the proximity to your location.
