User :   I think I may have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and want to know if I should see my general practitioner or go to a psychiatrist

Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello
Doctor :
May i know your age and gender?
User :   32f
Doctor :
Why do you think you have generalised anxiety disorder/
User :   I went to the dr about 5 months ago for some pains in my chest and she sent me to the cardiologist and it freaked me out
Doctor :
Ok
User :   As I was seeing the cardio she calls me and tells me there is inflammation in my blood and to take aleve
Doctor :
Ok
User :   I did and I received a hormonal migraine and took advil at the same time which made me very sick
Doctor :
Ok
User :   I threw up constantly and ended up losing 25 pounds in 3 weeks
Doctor :
Ok
User :   The cardio said I was ok so she sent me to the gastroenterologist because I devoloped bad acid reflux
Doctor :
Ok
User :   She prescibed me prilosec and protonix and nothing would work then the gastr. did a upper GI and a colonoscopy and all was fine except for inflammation of my stomach
User :   No one explained that this was just gastritis
Doctor :
Ok
User :   The gastro said I should just stop the meds which I did and I finally stopped throwing up and was able to eat
Doctor :
OK
User :   Then I started feeling weird pains all over and I think this is when the XXXXXXXX started cause I started panicking and feeling like I was going to die
User :   The dr did more tests and said I may have Lupus and sent me to the Rheumatologist.
Doctor :
Ok
User :   This freaked me out even more
User :   I was given Xanax to calm me down which it has helped
Doctor :
May i know what was the test done?
User :   XXXXXXXX levels
Doctor :   OK
User :   The rheumatolgist did more tests and said I was fine though
Doctor :
Ok
User :   I feel like I am not panicking anymore but I have had a headache everyday for the last month
User :   now I do not know what to do
Doctor :   I shall help you?
User :   the wierd pains are gone its just neck pains and headaches, I think maybe they are tension headaches
Doctor :   May I know if any other blood test were done by the rhematologist?
User :   I just don't understand why it is everyday that I get them
Doctor :
Tension headache are syndrome of headache which is a common to occur in a few.
User :   anti dna double strand, c3 complement, c4 complement, anti-ena antibodies, sjogrens antibodies, citrulline peptide, CRP, SED rate
Doctor :   May i know if all these tests were normal?
User :   yes they were
Doctor :
Ok.
User :   I just copied the lab request down, I have no idea what they all mean
Doctor :   They are all the test done to see if you have any other connective tissue disorders.
Doctor :
Lupus is one of the connective tissue disorder.
User :   Also, if I take tylenol the headache does not go away but if I take excedrin tension with acetaminophen and caffeine it goes away
Doctor :   So your problem right now is headaches because of tension. Isn't it?
User :   I think so
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :
I shall suggest measures for it then.
User :   I started doing yoga and I go in every two weeks for a massage
User :   I take hot showers when I feel it coming on and nothing helps
Doctor :
Tension headaches are one of the headache syndrome.
User :   Is it possible that I have this XXXXXXXX from the medical scares
User :   or do you think these headaches are something new that i have developed?
Doctor :
Yes, tension and stress can increase the symptoms of XXXXXXXX too,
Doctor :   Similarly does your headaches too.
User :   But if anything the XXXXXXXX symptoms are going away because I can actually function normally now my only problem is the headaches now
Doctor :
You may need to consult a clinical psychologist if these symptoms are very severe and affecting your daily activities.
Doctor :
The other alternative measures are symptomatic relief of your symptoms.
Doctor :
Since your problem right now are headache alone,
User :   I can take excedrin tension and be fine the entire day. No anxiety issues at all. I know that taking the meds everyday is not safe though
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
I shall tell you what you have to do now.
Doctor :
The treatment of these headaches are
Doctor :
Relief of the tension.
Doctor :
These are done by the measures that you are following.
Doctor :
SInce these are not helping you,
Doctor :
You may need a few medications those will prevent these headaches from occuring.
Doctor :
They are going to be every day medications.
Doctor :   These medications are prescription medications, which will be suggested to you by a neurologist.
User :   so I should see a neurologist?
Doctor :   Since your symptoms are headache alone, I think it would a neurologist would be able to help you to relieve your symptoms faster, than a psychologist.
Doctor :   Yes, so consult a neurologist.
User :   So I should go to my md first then onto a neurologist?
User :   What are the meds that he would probably put me on?
Doctor :
You can directly go to the neurologist, but a referral from your GP would help you in getting a neurologist appointment faster.
Doctor :
The choice however is yours.
Doctor :
You may need a few medications, apart from the stress relieving measures.
User :   ok then I will go to my md. I was hoping you would tell me that this was a symptom of XXXXXXXX and may take some more time to get over
Doctor :
No headaches are not part of XXXXXXXX.
Doctor :   I mean, headaches may be caused by XXXXXXXX
Doctor :   But since your only symptoms of the XXXXXXXX is headache.
Doctor :   The treatment is directed towards the headache relief alone.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   well I do worry a lot but it does not affect my daily functioning anymore. Before I would be with my family but not really there.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   Now I can be involved. I do have issues with sleeping still
Doctor :
Ok
User :   I also feel like crying all the time, I don't but it is there.
Doctor :   Since you had mentioned that the headaches are only the physical disturbance that has been affected by the XXXXXXXX, I feel this is the right choice of treatment.
Doctor :
As it would help in reducing the symptoms faster.
User :   ok I will schedule to see my md
User :   thanks
Doctor :   I do agree that treatment of XXXXXXXX
Doctor :
would solve the problems.
Doctor :
But it would some time.
Doctor :
Since your headaches have been everyday,
Doctor :   We would concentrate in relieving this first.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   Is it possible to develop XXXXXXXX from the medical issues I had? The XXXXXXXX is something I just diagnosed myself. I have not been told that by a dr.
User :   Yes I follow what you are saying
Doctor :   XXXXXXXX refers a group of symptoms that arises from the anxiety.
Doctor :
in your case it would be the anxiety that arise due to the fear of health problems.
Doctor :   There are multiple problems that disturb daily activities.
Doctor :
Since the only problem you have is headache.
Doctor :
I feel, you have tension headache alone and not XXXXXXXX.
Doctor :
Tension headache arising from anxiety.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   I think I did have a temporary XXXXXXXX but am getting over it now.
User :   Thanks I am good.
Doctor :
Meet a neurologist and you will have answers for the headaches too.
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :   You can consult us further if you have any other query following the consultation.
