Having headache. How to get relief? - Online Doctor Chats
How are you doing?
Hellp Doctor, am doing good
How can I help you today?
i have been having headache for couple of days now
Does it occur on both sides of the head or on one side only?
it is persistant and occurs on both the sides
not pounding head ache but persistant
it comes and stays for couple of days and then goes off,
i have also got my eyes tested, where doc says i have am straining my eyes and need to wear glass for reading, using laptops or watching TV. i have not been wearing specs before that, the power prescribed is .5 on both eyes only while doing these activities need to wear it. however i find the head ache even when i get up or when am not doing any eye straining activity also.
i do not have any cold or cough, but been having unstable stomach for the past few days, does it have any association?
Does it hurt when you press just below the inner corner of your eyebrow?
the headache is more towards the ends of the forehead
What you seem to be suffering from is tension headache
There are a few things that you need to do
first, you need to wear your glasses
secondly, try and destress
oh, do i need to wear it full time?
You should be wearing them atleast when you work on the computer or read something
Preferably full time
Even pranyama is very good
Upto 4 times a day
But main treatment remains destressing'
had disprine yesterday and went to bed, however the headache is there since the time i woke up in morning
Its a treatment that you take only when you have the headache
IT will not treat the headache permanently
would wearing glasses full time affect the power permanantly?
Its more like a temporary solutipon
it will not
Wearing your prescription glasses will only help
can you also help me with one more problem
But destressing is the only long term solution
i have a problem with my stomach on a regular basis, stomach is unstable
even when i have only home food
no nausea or vomiting and not severe diarrhoea but yes the motion is not usual but semi solid
What are your meal timings?
i had undergone a multiple fistula surgery around 1.5 Yr back,
have breakfast by 8.30 AM , lunch by 1.30 and dinner at around 9.30
You were treated for fistulas in the anus?
before that i used to have constipation but post that there is no constipation but stomach becomes loose quite often
This surgery is not related to your stomach issues
as they usually dont remove a large part of the intestine in this surgery
oh ok, but sometimes am not able to control the bowel movements also, i have to rush to the washroom
There are 2 posssibilities
but even when i have home food and cautious diet, even then i have the problem
One is amoebiasis
Which is a long term, persistent problem which needs to be treated
Second is stress
They can co-exist or can be individually responsible
treatment of amoebiasis usually involves metronidazole
This is a prescription drug and I would suggest you see a local practitioner who can prescribe the same to you
oh ok, will cojsult, is it a medicine course or would be one time dosage
It would be a course for about 1 week
You'll be fine
in a few days
But dont discontinue the course in the middle
The organism will not be taken care off otherwise
is there any specific food i need to take/avoid in general?
Just outside food
Take anything at home
and have small meals at regular intervals
Like every 3-4 hours
eat something small
ok thanks a lot for your advise
i do get fatiqueed every day by evening , guess its all linked then...
It could also be due to anaemia
Its very common in young women
I would suggest that you get a complete blood count
That will help us decide the appropriate treatment
last time i checked it was 11.9
Thats good enough actually
We're looking at anywhere between 12-14
will get it checked again mow
How much water do you have in a day?
thats one problem!! do not have a count though, maybe around 4 litres
how many glasses
its cold out here at Bangalore so have more of tea's
Make a note of this
10 glasses approx
If you have little water and too much of tea,
there is a very good chance of getting dehydrated
Atleast 12-16 glasses in a day
2-3 cups tea
do you advice against tea? coz am addicted to it have around 5 cups a day
that is something i need to conciously work to
try and limit to 2-3 cups
Substitute it with XXXXXXX tea
Is there any other concern I can answer?
oh yes just one more question right now.... do you advise taking calcium or some supplement ( i am now 30 Yr),
Just plenty of milk
around 500 g of dairy products in a day
ok thanks ..
thats it for now doc... thanks a lot for your advice and have a great day!!
Thanks for consulting me
Have a great day
Bye for now!
