2 weeks back
I remember you.
tell me, how can I help you today?
sir i have a rashes on my leg , sore throat
and also low fever
rashes at my neck also
is symptoms of hiv
from last 2 days
my dna pcr at 16 days came non-detected
The symptoms that you have is very common in any viral infection.
In view of your test being negative, this is unlikely to be related to HIV.
I am sure, these symptoms will improve in another couple of days.
Take proper diet and drink lot of fluid.
If the sorethroat is severe, you can try some saline water gargles.
You should be fine in a few days.
If the symptoms are persisting after 5 days, get your blood tested - complete blood counts done.
I reassure you, the symptoms are not likely to be HIV.
So do not worry.
Do you have any other query?
sir this is 31st day after my exposure , for my satisfaction can i go for hiv test
which test ?
You can get a repeat test, to allay any fear you have.
Since you are in the window period, getting the usual HIV antibody test like ELISA / westernblot/p24 antigen test is in appropriate.
If you wish to repeat the test, then you need to the PCR test done again.
ok i go for dna pcr doctor
whats s the window period for dna pcr
Window period is only meant for antibody detection test such as those I mentioned earlier.
For the PCR test, we do not refer any thing like Window period.
Meaning, there is no window period for it.
so 2 weeks is confirmatory right
I see another doctor had asked you to repeat the test after a while.
The test was not to doubt the accuracy of the test,
I mean to doubt the results of the test,
but rather some doctors believe DNA PCR test are more reliable and accurate when done after a period of a month, than during early period.
ELISA duo test is a combination test which looks for antibody as well as P24 antigen.
Sometimes P24 antigen can be seen after 4 weeks,
but this test is less sensitive than DNA PCR.
If you have had negative PCR, the chance that you will have a postive P24 antigen is very unlikely.
If you are still apprehensive, you can go ahead and get the ELISA Duo test as suggested.
It will alleviate all your doubts.
Thus leading to better quality of life.
ok doctor i wil go only dna pcr
