User:Hi Doctor
Doctor:Good afternoon
User:Hi - I need your guidance on the Liver Function Tests that I did today
User:For the past 8 months my alchohol consumtion has been on the rise.
Doctor:please proceed
User:Recently I have started to develop itching all over the body (no rashes though), breathlessness (I use Cipla Aerocort for this purpose. I have been using this for more than 10 years now due to asthma from early age), dark urine, low energy, vomiting sensation, loose motions etc.
User:For these reasons I did a Liver Function Test today morning on 12 hour empty stomach and 36 hours before consuming alchohol (I also sprayed 2 counts of Aerocort before leaving for the test)
Doctor:Sorry to hear that
User:Can you take a look at the attached Test result and suggest me changes in my dient and lifestyle?
Doctor:can you mail the report to me?
User:sure - your email address please?
Doctor: with my name in the subject line
User:Sure...doing it now. Please give me a minute
Doctor:I shall wait
User:I have sent it now
Doctor:Give me a moment while I check for it
Doctor:I have got your mail
User:ok thanks
Doctor:Let me quickly go through the reports
Doctor:the report suggests an acute injury to the liver
Doctor:It would be wise for you to stop alcohol intake hence on
Doctor:The raised GGT levels suggest that
Doctor:SGOT of 53.4 is still normal
Doctor:There is mild elevation in Bilirubin
Doctor:This needs to be controlled as well
Doctor:SGPT is hih
User:oh ok
Doctor:You will have to quit alcohol cold
User:Got it. Does it also include beer intake regularly
User:ok fine
Doctor:You must abstain from beer as well
Doctor:After 6 months, repeat the test
Doctor:and later on you can have red wine occasionally
User:ok. will do so. Do you also see any chances of these being high due to my usage of aerocort?
Doctor:Not at all
User:ok fine. So I can continue to have it when I suffer from breathlessness
Doctor:Yes, you can continue it
User:ok thanks Doc. Do you also suggest any dietary changes for me?
Doctor:Avoid high fatty foods
Doctor:Go for more of vegetable salads and fruits
Doctor:Drink Tender coconut water
Doctor:May I know your age?
Doctor:Do you have other pre-existing medical illnesses ?
User:Only Asthma, but nothing else
Doctor:Eat less of meat
Doctor:Nothing more is required
User:ok thanks doc. Do you see any chances of me to drink beer occassionaly after my liver health improves?
Doctor:Not at least for next one year, I am sorry on that
Doctor:Thank you too
Doctor:Is that all for now?
User:Yes Doc. You have been extremely helpful
User:I'll follow your decisions very very well
Doctor:All the best and wish you good health
Doctor:Take care
User:Thanks to you and will do Doc
Doctor:Bye for now
User:Hi Dr. Shanthi
Doctor:Dr. Shanthi here
User:We spoke sometime back and forgot to ask you something - I am sorry for this
Doctor:No problem
Doctor:Please proceed with your query
User:Recently after the symptoms seen for my liver problem, I started to take Amway Nutrilite Milk Thistle tablets
User:NUTRILITE® Milk Thistle and Dandelion - 60 Count (2 tablets each day)
User:Should I stop this or continue?
Doctor:I am sorry these tablets have not been studied medically
Doctor:There is no evidence based medicine that suggests to use these mediciens
Doctor:It is as well better to stop using them
User:ok got it.
User:And...Will my liver come back to shape?
User:or is it once damaged it cannot come back to normal?
Doctor:It is still under the process of complete recovery
Doctor:I mean to say it is in the initial stages
Doctor:It is good for you
Doctor:complete function can be regained once you follow these measures
User:Ok thanks. I am feeling better now :)
User:Thanks again and best wishes to you too
Doctor:Thank you too
Doctor:Take care
