Doctor:Please proceed with your query
User:I have recently undergone tests for almost all the stds
User:on 3rd March 2013, i faced a risky sexual exposure
User:and on 1st of May 2013, i have undergone std tests
User:thats about close to 2months
User:all came back negative
User:just worrying a bit about HSV
User:1 and 2
User:2months - is this a OK period post a risky exposure
Doctor:Let me know what worries you, I mean do you have any symptoms related to that?
User:HSV 1 IgG 8 EU/ml (
User:unfortunately, i have contracted with molluscum contagiosum at that point or before that exposure...
User:im taking treat for that
User:regarding hsv, i dont have any symptoms, just worrying about the window period
Doctor:You've got a very good question XXXXXXX
Doctor:Before that I want to say that different STDs have different window periods (incubation periods)
Doctor:I would give you the window period of HSV but let me know more about Molluscum contagiosum.
Doctor:Is it confirmed as MC
User:yes, my dermatologist diagnised it as MC and she is treating the lesions with TCA solution
User:those which are visible are gone after applying the solution, but, recurrence is still there..
User:its been about 3.5 months im taking treatment for that
Doctor:Ok. The window period to diagnose HSV is about 4- 6 days only
Doctor:I asked whether it is confirmed or not since Molluscum can sometimes be confused with HSV
User:at this point there are some lesions on my gentials - area where hair grows - just above penis, some on the testis, and one very small mc on the penile shaft
User:confirmed means, doct has examined them and told me its MC
User:is there any means sth like tests to confirm its MC or not doctor?
Doctor:Yeah, physical examination can give a classical picture of MC for Dermatologist
Doctor:No need of any more tests for that
User:now, stil there is recurrence and im taking treatment for that...
User:i have been treated with tca solution on the lesions, she told me that its the only way to treat MC
Doctor:But, molluscum is little difficult to completely treat. There won't be any specific antiviral drugs for it. But dermatologists would try suportive treatment with TCA etc
Doctor:It takes few weeks to even months to get rid of all those lesions
User:ok.. will body's immune response play a role doctor?
Doctor:Yes it does
User:ok.. thats what..its been more that 3 months now...
User:ok.. im just trying to improve my immune system - eating raw fruits n veggies, excercises etc
Doctor:People who are immunocompromised will have an complex presentation than those who are immune - in case of MC
Doctor:I want to advise you one more THING
User:please sir
Doctor:As I said there are different window periods for various STDs, and as you told that all STD tests were negative
Doctor:It is better to get tested one more time after 2 oto 3 months
Doctor:Don't want to make you more apprehensive by giving all the STDs names
Doctor:There is very less chance though
User:ok sir, i would want to give the names of tests i have undergone
User:the tests are done after three months
User:VDRL, HBsAg, HCV, Urine Examination, HIV Antibodies - TRIDOT
Doctor:Some STDs have a window period of 4 to 6 months and it depends on the tests you have undergone
User:all are negative, HSV 1& 2 after 2months, i have even undergone DNA PCR Qualitative Analysis - its 26days after that exposure - its Not Detected
User:ok, can u please specifically let me know which tests to undergo
Doctor:Then I think it should be fine!
User:so, no more tests are required sir?
User:im thinking to getting hsv 1 2 tested after 10days - its just making me curious
Doctor:Don't be very worried. I personally think that all tests you have done should suffice
Doctor:All the STDs you are talking about like HSV are easily treateable
Doctor:No need to worry
Doctor:even if they are positive
User:ok sir, cause im getting married in 2months
Doctor:But it is advisable to get tested for HIV after 1 more month, if you are concerned about it
User:just expecting to clear off every thing away before that
Doctor:That is good, actually
User:ok sir, but, with the already done test results, i think i need not worry about hiv
User:what do you say sir...
Doctor:Window period for this range from 3 to 6 months
Doctor:And I think you would not have undergone PCR for this
User:why sir.. is there any reason that i shouldn't undergone that?
Doctor:PCR would detect it early but it is not available widely
Doctor:I think you have undergone ELISA and western blot
User:ok.. luckily its available in hyderabad, yes, i have undergo PCR and ELISA after 26 days
User:tridot test after 3 months
User:am i understading your point doctor? or im taking it in a different way?
User:i want to have one strong adivce from you doctor
Doctor:Serocoversion usually takes 4 - 12 weeks and tridot after 3 months completely rules it out
Doctor:So, please do not worry
User:please give me a list of foods that would boost my skin immunity. i dont want these lesions to spread further
User:ok sir, thankyou very much...
Doctor:Unfortunately, there won't be such foods to increase skin immunity
User:especially, for a sensitive skin of genitals
Doctor:don't worry, they would get healed sooner as you are not immunocompromised and young
Doctor:Just, follow up with dermatologist
User:sure doctor..
Doctor:He would try other measures if one does not work out
Doctor:As there are couple things available
Doctor:Do not worry
User:what are those doctor
Doctor:Hope you had good discussion
User:if u got time, could u please let me know
Doctor:Let me know
User:i didn't get u sir
Doctor:I thought you were asking some other question
User:no sir
Doctor:liquid nitrogen (for a few seconds),
podophyllin in tincture of benzoin compound, electrocautery or diathermy are the options
Doctor:You can discuss about these with your dermatologist
User:ok sir, sure
User:its been nice talking to u... thanks for your suggestions
Doctor:Have a nice day
User:same to you doctor, bye!
Doctor:Kindly rate it if you have time
User:bye sir
