Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi..
Doctor :
How can I help you?
User :   i have a query on one cocern..
User :   sry concern
Doctor :
Please proceed with your query.
User :   what is HIV ELISA test?
Doctor :
It is a test done to diagnose HIV.
User :   when is the appropriate time to test..
Doctor :
HIV ELISA detects the antibodies against the HIV virus.
Doctor :
These antibodies appear in the blood about 2 to 3 weeks following exposure.
Doctor :   They can remain for about 2 months in the blood.
Doctor :
Then they can be detected during this time.
Doctor :
Following this their detection is some times difficult till about 3 to 6 months time due to antigenic conversion.
Doctor :
Hence the time when you can do these tests are
Doctor :   after 2 to 3 weeks following the exposure.
Doctor :
If over 2 months have passed, then you may have to wait for 3 months to 6 months to get the correct reports.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   yes its all most 3 to 4 months.
Doctor :
Ok.
User :   ohh you can say 6 motnhs even
Doctor :   I shall suggest these test then.
Doctor :
1. You can get the HIV elisa test.
Doctor :
2. You can also get HIV DNA PCR done.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   i have done 1st one..
User :   its negative right now..
Doctor :   OK.
Doctor :
Then the chances of infection is very less.
Doctor :
But if the antigenic conversion, which is known as window period is still there, then you may
Doctor :
repeat the test after some time.
Doctor :
This is if you have an exposure history.
Doctor :   If you have an exposure history, i would suggest you to get the second test too.
Doctor :
The HIV DNA PCR would rule the infection out.
Doctor :
It is a better test to rule the infection.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
Doctor :
Are you there?
User :   u mean after how many months?
Doctor :
The window period commonly last for maximum 6 months, occasionally can last for a period of 9 months too.
Doctor :
So if there is exposure history, or if the time of exposure is doubtful then you may have to repeat the test after another 6 months time.
Doctor :
As I mentioned earlier, this is one of the rare occasions.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   no the second one i haven't .. as per you i have a doubt on exposer..
User :   to be frank.. 4 to 5 months back i have been.. bt i have not gone for intercourse..
Doctor :   Since the exposure was 4 to 4 months ago a repeat test after 6 months has to be done compulsurily.
Doctor :
If this test come negative, then the chances that you are infected is very less.
Doctor :
Almost 90%.
Doctor :
The other 10% is if the window period is lasting for more then the 6 months time.
Doctor :
Then you may have to repeat the test after a year.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   i have been under gone exposure as u said more that 6 months back..
Doctor :   Ok
User :   but 4 months back as i said i didn't had intercourse but a oral hug..
User :   so we can say this is more that 6month test that i had today.. which is negative..
User :   so for safer side i;ll also get the HIV DNS PCR test done
Doctor :   That would be a better choice.
Doctor :
as it can rule the infection to about 99% what ever the time period is.
Doctor :
This is a test done to rule the infection, only and not confirmation of infection.
Doctor :   Do not take me wrong, if this test comes positive, then the confirmative tests are the ELISA and a second test known as western blot technique.
Doctor :
Have you followed=?
Doctor :
Do you have any other query?
User :   yeah...
User :   if this is negative i need not to worry in my life.. right doctor?
User :   i mean DNA PCR
Doctor :
Yes.
Doctor :
the DNA PCR test is a better test in knowing if you do not have the infection.
Doctor :
But this tests will only tell you the status till now.'
Doctor :
So avoid these issues again in the future.
Doctor :
The best would be to avoid such an act in the future.
User :   definitely.. i suffered a lot thing of this
Doctor :
It is just an advice.
Doctor :
Do you have any other query?
User :   yes.
Doctor :
Please proceed with the query.
User :   can u tell me one final test at this situation.. so that i can stay out of tension?
Doctor :
If you want to know rule the infection completely, then I would suggest you to get the DNA PCR test alone.
Doctor :
Depending on the results of the test, the need for any other test will be decided.
Doctor :
you may need other tests only if the turn positive.
Doctor :   Have you followed?

User :   hello doctor..
User :   it just got disconnected.. dur to time frame
User :   r u thr
User :   hello doctor..
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Let me read it.
User :   my last query is ..
User :   in HIV ELISA results or readings.. the values we get out of this should be constant for non exposed person?
Doctor :
Minor variations may be present.
User :   why those variations?
Doctor :
cause of immunological system.
User :   ok
User :   what is the appropriate value should be?
User :   ?
Doctor :
i shall provide you with the relevant information.
User :   i didn't get u
Doctor :
ELISA results are reported as a number; the most controversial aspect of this test is determining the "cut-off" point between a positive and negative result.
Doctor :
so the results are based on positive and negative results
User :   ok.. i'll get the DNS PCR test done tomrw...
User :   DNA PCR
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello
Doctor :
Please proceed with your query?
User :   i have already discussed with the doctor i got disconnected in b/w.. and i have reconnected again. i hope u are the new doctor for me...
User :   can u able to see my previous discussions with the doctor?
User :   or are u the one with whom i was discussing?
Doctor :
you had some query about ELISA test?
