User :   I have a lower back ache that comes and goes and I also had a bowel movement that was green and white flaky things in my urine. What could this be ?
Doctor :   hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here.
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed
Doctor :   was this the first episode of having green color stools?
Doctor :   usually it is not an alarming symptom if you have had greens in food
User :   yes. I have been drinking a lot of cranberry juice
User :   could that do it ?
Doctor :   but if here is no food item involved, then t could be due to infection
Doctor :   could you try to remember what all food items you took since 24 hours ago?
Doctor :   do you have any other symptoms associated?
Doctor :   are you there?
User :   No, not that I can think of. The only thing I had different that I do not normally eat is Balsamic Vinegar. I thought maybe the back ache was associated with constipation but I think my back would have stopped hurting when the constipation went away.
Doctor :   yes, usually it should go away with the constipation going off
Doctor :   the white flakes in urine could be the protein leak or casts. it can be confirmed and identified by getting a urine analysis done.
Doctor :   how many episodes of green color stools have you had so far?
Doctor :   what is the stool consistency?
User :   2 they are normal consistency the last one had more normal coloring in it.
Doctor :   ok. then chances are that the color change is due to change in food
Doctor :   continue having your usual food, not anything different and see if the normal color comes back
Doctor :   if no foul smell or mucus is associated with the stools then you can wait and watch.
Doctor :   if foul smell or mucus is associated then a stool test is recommended to be done
User :   ok.... can I use an Azo at home test strip for my urine. I asked my husband to pick some up on the way home
Doctor :   it wll not test for the casts, they are more clearly seen under microscope
Doctor :   it can only detect protein, sugar and any infection
User :   ok
Doctor :   the identity of the white flakes will still need to be confirmed
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   Yes. I have. There isn't a lot of the white flakes but I have never looked that closely at my urine before
User :   yes
Doctor :   ok.
