User :   I am 44 years old. 6 years ago, after my son was born and I began my periods again I had a few regualr cycles (28 days on the nose) and then suddenly they began to change and were irregualr. I went on the Nuvarinng to regulate them, but I didn't like the hormones, because I felt PMS was actually worse. I went off of the ring and lived with the irregularity. Last summer I went back on and the ring didn't really regulate my periods well, but I briefly used it for birth control. Again, didn't like how it made me feel, so I went off again. then my preiods were every 36 days, then 16, then 36. Since I left my husband and have been under a lot of stress, but I have been under a lot of stress before, so I don't know if there is any correlation between the following, but suddenly my period just stopped. I was actually much thinner last summer and I still had my periods, so it seems odd that they stopped after gaining weight. The last period I had was February 24th. I did have spotting - old blood - on the 20th of April, but it was a very small amount and it was just that day. I seem to be gaining more weight, regardless of my consistent resistance training at the gym, plus running 2 miles every few days. I am beside myself. What is going on? I am only 44! How do I control my weight? Also, my BP was great last summer when I was skinny - 114. I had my BP taken yesterday, because I was concerned and, as I thought, it was sky high - my pulse was fine, but the BP was 142. Again, what is going on and what do I do to gain a little more control, or at least feel better about myself? My diet is full of healthy foods, so this is so frustrating to me. HELP!
Doctor :   Hello.
User :   HI
Doctor :   Let me read the query.
User :   Thank you
Doctor :   Have you done any tests regarding this?
User :   No
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Do you have history of Allergies/ Diabetes/ High Blood pressure/ Thyroid?
User :   No - except for high blood pressure during my first pregnancy
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I have seasonal allergies - well they seem to go all year round
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Are you on any medications?
User :   Then I may have been exposed to mold in the place I moved into 6 months ago. I have to move out so they can fix the problem.
User :   I am on VAltrex
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I've been sick off and on ever since I moved in.
User :   I am not useually sick, but I figured it was stress from leaving my husband.
User :   Sorry about the typos
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Do you have any pain abdomen/ menstrual cramps?
User :   No.
User :   Just a growing belly.
Doctor :   It could be probably related to thyroid.
Doctor :   You have to get certain tests done.
User :   I've never had a thyroid issue. I have been tested before.
Doctor :   When was it?
User :   Last year
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Did you test for diabetes?
User :   I don't have diabetes. No symptoms of it. Doesn't run in my family.
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   I would recommend you to get a thyroid and diabetic profile done.
User :   I have been more "low" than happy for months.
Doctor :   That does not explain weight gain and loss BP.
Doctor :   High bp.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Also the menstrual irregularities.
User :   I just don't understand why my period would just come to a halt. Didn't "taper" off, plus I am so young - plus my mom and sister didn't have this issue.
Doctor :   It is probably due to hormonal irregularities.
User :   Diabetics have certain symptoms - what are the most common?
Doctor :   Increased fatigue.
Doctor :   In your case it probably due to thyroid irregularities.
User :   What about mold exposure?
Doctor :   That will cause just allergy.
User :   If highly exposed can it make you sick?
Doctor :   Yes.
User :   So I could have a few things going on here.
Doctor :   I didn't get that.
Doctor :   Are you on any steroid?
User :   No. I have allergies I haven't been able to control. They are worse when it is wet out or foggy. My concentration has decreased. I am forgetful. I go through spots of extreme fatigue. I am irritable.
User :   I feel like I can't keep up with things I normally use to.
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I was hightly organized and now I feel like I am falling behind more and more.
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   It could also be due to early menopause.
User :   Seems odd, as it is not in my family history. I noticed I am extremely sensitive to caffein. I even have a hard time with the black tea I liked to drink. Makes me shake.
Doctor :   premenopausal symptoms include these.
Doctor :   These things need not run in the family.
User :   Okay. So, what do I do about the weight gain? I eat right and exercise. Do I have to accept piling on the pounds no matter what I do? It's not so much about the weight, but how it FEELS. I feel less healthy.
User :   Plus - I truly can't aford to buy bigger clothes. This is just insane!
User :   Hello? I just purcahse more time.
User :   oops - purchased
User :   Knock, knock!
User :   Okay - I need to get my money back for the second session I paid for.
