Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   how can i help you?
User :   I've been taking Omeprazole for a week now for GERD / acid reflux symptoms. And it seems to have done really good.......90% of the time now, 90% of my symptoms feel much better....but just a quick question
Doctor :   ok
User :   Does it take longer for it to get rid of this feeling of something stuck in my throat? Like I'll take a Tylenol and it still feels like it gets stuck halfway down. Does it take longer for that symptom to be relieved?
Doctor :   are you having difficulty swallowing solids or liquids?
User :   Definitely not liquids
Doctor :   ok
User :   Um.....I think food is going down too
User :   feels kind of dry back there though, like not enough saliva to wash things down
User :   liquids I know are going down....and I think food is too
Doctor :   was an endoscopy done back then/
User :   no
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :   do you have any cold?
User :   no
Doctor :   ok
User :   But as I said, my symptoms seem to be getting better
Doctor :   since when did you have this difficulty in swallowing?
User :   And also I'll tell you this, before I started the Omeprazole, the feeling of something stuck in my throat was much worse.
Doctor :   ok
User :   It felt like some big glob back then
Doctor :   then the sensation would go down slowly
User :   About 2 or 3 weeks I guess
Doctor :   continue the medications as before
User :   a week or 2 after I started feeling the acid reflux
User :   and heartburn
Doctor :   and take soft bland diet as much as possible'
User :   Ok, I'm trying to do that.....and there were a couple days this past week when I didn't feel anything in my throat
User :   felt totally gone
User :   But kind of reappeared last night
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   it will subside by itself
Doctor :   if the pain is severe then you may need a painkiller
User :   Ok, this is probably the last time I can talk to someone here before the weekend so let me ask you this
User :   Oh no
User :   never painful
Doctor :   if there is any burning then take an antacid
User :   Let me ask you this
Doctor :   there must have been a little scarring
Doctor :   thats why there is the difficulty
User :   Can I take comfort in the fact that the Omeprazole seems to be working? Is that a good sign that this is probably nothing more serious than GERD / acid reflux?
Doctor :   if it doesnt subside
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   as you are showing response to omeprazole it is a good sign
Doctor :   if the difficulty does not subside by another month
Doctor :   get a check up done
User :   Ok.....One last thing. The Omeprazole, I bought at WalMart. It says use for only 14 days?

User :   Will my symptoms come back after 14 days?
Doctor :   no, omeprazole can be used as long as the specialist advises

User :   Ok, I think you've given me enough peace of mind that I can sleep at nights this weekend. At least it seems that it's probably going to be ok since so many symptoms are being helped by the Omeprazole
User :   Thanks for your time.
