User :   Hi, I am male, 28, 5'10" , now 70kgs weight. I am urinating quite often with less urine out put. I have lost around 5 kgs in the past few months. Is it a symptom of diabetes? I have this long term issue of boils coming on my back and shoulders and lower part of head. They come frequently and burst with puss. Is these things inter related?
Doctor :   hi.
Doctor :   Dr.XXX here
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed.
User :   hi
User :   ok
Doctor :   your symptoms could be interrelated. However to confirm if it is diabetes I would need to ask further symptoms and after relevant tests we can decide if you do have diabetes.
Doctor :   shall I proceed?
User :   yup
Doctor :   do you have increased thirst?
User :   no
Doctor :   do you have anyone else in family with diabetes?
User :   i drink water very less
User :   no one in immediate family.. mother dad and sis
User :   not even for grand mom
Doctor :   do the boils take long time to heal?
User :   in 4 days or so it bursts
User :   the ones in the back of the head are big and irritating.. when it bursts, lot of blood comes out
Doctor :   do you have a sedentary lifestyle? does your work involve sitting at one place?
User :   i have black marks all over my back because of these boils
User :   yea.. i am a software engineer
Doctor :   do you have burning sensation or discomfort when passing urine?
User :   i work from home too.. so i sit in front of the computer almost 16 hours a day
User :   nope... no burning sensation or discomfort
User :   sometime when i pass urine, in 10-15 minutes, I want to pass agian with little urine
Doctor :   are there any other symptoms associated?
User :   otherwise I am fine...
User :   if i sleep on my hand, my hand becomes numb
User :   i am not sure if its a common problem
Doctor :   your passing of less urine and repeated urination can be attributed to less water intake. your bladder needs to have the sensation of fullness to have complete emptying
User :   i cant sleep on top of my hand for more than 10mins.. it beocmes numb
Doctor :   so if urine is less, you might have feeling of needing to pass urine again.
User :   ohhh ok...
User :   how much water shud i take daily?
Doctor :   I suggest you start with drinking more water, about 8-10 glasses (200ml each) daily
User :   so no need to do a diabetes test?
Doctor :   apart from other beverages
Doctor :   avoid tea/coffee/caffeinated drinks as much as possible
User :   ok.. 2 litrs a day
User :   with in how many days can i see the difference?
Doctor :   coming t o whether you need test for diabetes, I would recommend you to have one done
Doctor :   since you have lost weight inspite of having sedentary work
Doctor :   so the tests that need to be done are: Doctor :   fasting and post prandial blood sugar levels
User :   ok..
Doctor :   along with HbA1C (glycosylated hemoglobin) test
Doctor :   which shows your sugar level control over last 2--3 months time
User :   ok...
Doctor :   along with blood tests, get urine tests done too to rule out infection and to note presence of sugar in urine
User :   ok..
Doctor :   if tests come back normal, showing that you do not have diabetes, then consider getting evaluated for bladder issues
User :   how about the boils?
Doctor :   with increase in the water intake and a good diet, you should see good results
User :   its there for a vey long time.. say 8 years.. i showed to many doctors, even ayurveda, they say nothing to worry, but these stillc omes.. is it because of dandruff?
Doctor :   apply Allsuth lotion for boils, it soothes them, and helps in faster and better healing
Doctor :   if you have dandruff, then they can be realted
Doctor :   tackle your dandruff problem, once it is gone, boils will improve as well
Doctor :   meet a dermatologist to get scalp examined to see if any other infection is present too
Doctor :   if found, then you will be put on oral medications and medicated shampoos
Doctor :   to control the problem well
User :   Allsuth is a brand name?
Doctor :   which you need to follow for 4-6 weeks to see good results. be in regular follow-up with diet including 3 servings of fruits and veg in form of juices and salads
User :   ok...
Doctor :   yes. it is, and it is readily available. ask your pharmacist for details
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said so far?
User :   yup.. indeed..
Doctor :   is there anything else you would like to ask me?
User :   these boils comes when i dont have dandruff too.. thats why i am worried
Doctor :   once dandruff is controlled, it will be controlled as well.
User :   ok thanks doctor for the help!
User :   will do a sugarlevel test now.. i was fasting from yesterday
Doctor :   if these come even when dandruff, then it can be due to less water intake and diet problems
Doctor :   if you are with 8-10 hours fasting with no tea/coffee intake, you can take the test now.
User :   ok.. thanks doctor.. that will be it
Doctor :   ok. thanks for consulting me. bye for now.
User :   ok thanks a lot!!
