Fever, cough, slight sputum, runny nose, headache, back pain, bodyache. Combiflam ineffective. Recommendations? - Online Doctor Chats
I have taken 'Combiflam' for fever
How are you feeling now?
what can I take for cough and cold
Do you have headache, body weakness/body aches too?
i have Roxidx 150 mg
Is there sorethroat, difficulty/pain in swallowing, vomiting?
Do you get some sputum with cough or are you having dry cough?
is this viral fever?
ok..is it serious
And the most likely infection is viral as you guessed.
what should I take as medicine?
This is a very common infection.
Viral infections are self limiting illness and you do not need any specific medicines to cure it.
Yes, symptomatic medicines can reduce the symptoms.
so can I take Roxid 150 mg for cough and cold
or any other medicine?
You may continue it.
what about cough and cold?
Roxid is an antibiotic which is helpful in bacterial infection; it has no role in treating viral infection. So you don't need it.
ok..so what can i take
I would also want to tell you this, that cough can transiently increase while on this syrup;
oh ok...how many days will it take?
also same symptoms are there for my 2 year son as well?
this will reduce after a few days with it.
You need to take this syrup 5ml twice or thrice daily.
ok Dr. Thanks
While on this medication, please do not drive or involve in any mechanical job
for 2-3 hours after taking the dose.
It might make you drowsy/giddy.
Along with it, you can also try the following:
1. XXXXXXX steam inhalation.
2. Cough lozenges - vicks tablets (mint); Nivaran ( a herbal preparation) and other throat soothening agents.
3. Warm cup of ginger and mint (only ginger if mint is not available) tea.
4. Take plenty of fluids
5. Avoid cold and refrigerated food.
Finally, if fever worsens, you develop yellowish foul smelling sputum
or if these symptoms fail to reduce even after 3-5 days of the following measures;
you will need antibiotic therapy.
In such cases, it would be wise to consult your physician for appropriate antibiotics.
Have you followed?
Are you there?
I have to close the window as you are not responding.
I hope I have answered all your query.
Is there any other query??
I was not getting the responses
Viral infection is a very contagious infection.
It spreads easily through close contact.
The dose of crocin needs to be adjusted according to his current weight
So if you have tried crocin ds in the past, this dose may not suit him now.
oih is it
I can tell you the dose he needs, if you can let me know his current weight.
so much dose i need to give it him
As far as cough and cold/
you may give him benadryl pediatric syrup
ok..how much quantity
Is he comfortable in taking tablets
Same as crocin 250mg/5ml.
From this syrup you can give him 5ml twice or thrice a day depending on his needs.
ok.....thanks a lot Dr.
Monitor his temperature closely;
If the temperature shoots above 100 deg F, sponge him using XXXXXXX warm water.
Persistent temperature above 100 deg F needs medical attention.
Hope it is clear to you.
thanks Dr. i'll keep
Do you have any other query?
Thanks for consulting me.
I wish you and your son speedy recovery.
Bye for now.
