Fever accompanied with severe joints pain. Treatment? - Online Doctor Chats
Hi. Good Evening
How are you doing?
I am doing fine. How was your day today? I have couple of clarifications on my family members health.
sure go ahead
Recently (Two weeks) backs my dad, mom and sister had a fever accompanied with severe joints pain mostly on feet and knee and other joints
When consulted doctoe he suspected the symptoms to be for chikungunia and gave medicines for same
Also some kind of rashes came on their skin. This kind of rashes gone after couple of days.
did the rashes look like small red spots?
However the joints pain still exists. Especially for my Mom and Sister thy are having pain in feet still
Those rashes came for a day and disapperaed next day. It kind of red spots only.
Typically in Chikungnya, the joint pain will last for long periods of time
Then when consulted doctor he asked since the symptoms are same for mom and sister, He asked to do blood test only for my sister
Then blood test reported negative for chickungunia. However the blood test were done after a week of fever. Since joint pain still existed.
Nope. It was done only for screening chkungunia. Now thy do not have fever. Only thy are having pain in feets.
No joints pain as well now. Since thy are having bit pain in feet should i consult any specialist or so?
There are 2 possibilities Madhudevan
It can be chikungunya or dengue
in both cases, the joint pains will last longer than the fever
So any medication to be taken for that after consulting the doctor or it will just prevail for days
It will typically last for a few more days
But typically, the joint pain will last for a few more days
In some cases, it will last for a few more weeks
This one they say not joint pain. Only pain in feet
and if they walk thy feel the pain
Yes, when the bones or the joints are affected, these symptoms would be expected
Its not that typically the pain will be restricted to the joint
oh okie. I actually thought of there might be any deficiency in some vitamins which cause the pain and thy might want to be tested what deficiency and if at all they have to take some meditions for that.. So now as you say i understand the pain is normal for few weeks.
Its important to have a healthy and balanced diet
especially during periods of stress
like an illness, but no vitamins are needed as such
Thanks for you response mam. I have one more clarification please
My sister for couple of weeks experiencing pain in upper part of left jaw. The place near the ears. Whenever she chews hard tough she is expericing the pain. We are not sure if this is related to dental problem or bones related to ortho. Not sure whom to contact for screening
Does the pain exist when she is not chewing?
Nope. Initially first day she said pain is worse and consulted general doctor and gave medication for muscle sparin. It was better after that. But now again she says she could feel pain only when chewing hard substance. She could not say where actually th pain is? whether near grinding teeth or above that..(jaws)
I think the first evaluation should be by a dentist
They'll take a Xray and see if there is something wrong
An examination will also tell us about any local problem in the teeth as well
A pain killer will only relieve the pain
I think its better if we address the cause
Thank you very much for youe valuable time and response.
Thank you for consulting me
Bye for now
