User :   My husband was taken by an ambulance yesterday from our home for the strangest thing. He said he was in the kitchen went to the living room, felt dizzy all of a sudden, layed down on the couch and his eyes starting shaking very quickly back and forth, he tried to dial 911 several times on the phone, he couldn't see and then he violently started throwing up on himself a dozen times, he was incredibly dizzy. He said he couldn't move off at all and one leg "shot out" when his eyes starting shaking violenting, at this point he could no longer open his eyes. 911 showed up and he was taken to the hospital. After approx. 4 hrs. he was stabilized with anti-nausa med and dizziness med's and released with a diag. of vertigo. My husband had no injury, no new med's, nothing different and he said he went from normal to what he thought was near death of a stroke in 4 minutes flat. He had a CAT scan and blood taken in the ER with all negative. Anything other than vertigo?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello
Doctor :   the eye movements ( nystagmus ) is also seen in problems of cerebellum
Doctor :   the other symptoms too are typical , but there is considerable overlapping in the symptoms of vestibular apparatus ( vertigo ) and cerebellum problems
User :   is meniere's disease a possibility to look into, along with what you mentioned...would every stoke or seizure show up on a CAT scan?
Doctor :   yes, merniere's did could be a chance,
Doctor :   yes, CAT will not miss the stroke unless its transient ischeamia presenting with very short symptoms of weakness and pain
Doctor :   Are you there ?
User :   still here, thinking about what to do
Doctor :   i would ask you to get a MRI scan which will be more reliable than the CAT
User :   as for my husband's pain, it was his head and eyes were hurting and now his ribs and chest hurt from throwing up so much yesterday
User :   would it help for him to see a ENT to check for all the inner ear issues and get a MRI
Doctor :   yes, ENT and MRI combined will surely come out with an idea on what he has
User :   he could talk and make sense of things when this all happened, which is why they were ruling out the stroke of any kind, plus the CAT was neg.
Doctor :   i agree , stroke being a least considerati
Doctor :   consideration*
User :   got it. ENT and MRI would be best....any other suggestions, questions to ask them?
Doctor :   also get his cerebellar signs tested , the ENT specialist will do that
User :   i would not worry as much if it wasn't for the fact that he has a very risky job as a structural steel worker at very high heights and what if this happened again?
Doctor :   its not safe for him to continue this work anymore
Take a second opinion on this with the ENT doctor too
User :   will do. thank you so much.
Doctor :   you are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Take care
