Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi!
Doctor :
How can I help you?
User :   I just paid a payment for the $9, although I dont know if it processed?
Doctor :
it will proceed
User :   oh! ok.
User :   I dont know if i was talking to you the other night about my ear???
Doctor :   plz proceed with your medical Q
User :   would you be the same person?
Doctor :   your previous chat record is with us
User :   oh! ok!
User :   cool.
User :   so, my right ear .....
Doctor :   yes
User :   I have Eustachian tube dysfunction with a retracted ear drum.
User :   i went to the Dr 3 days ago.
Doctor :   ya i know
User :   He gave me a steriod nose spray.
User :   the pain .. is at night time ...
User :   and its the worst pain I have had in my life.
Doctor :   ok

User :   it goes behind my eye and on to my teeth and gums.
User :   only seems to be at night time.
Doctor :   ok
User :   Im not sure what to do.
Doctor :   did you discuss with your GP about grommet insertion?

User :   as i have private health insurance .... if i went to ER and got admitted to the hospital I would get free treatment from specialist, but worried they would just send me home and say take a panadol.
User :   yes, my GP said I might need a grommet ....
User :   but the pain is unbelieveable.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
Doctor :
i am there to help you
User :   lol
User :   ta!
User :   the pain isn't bad now. it just gets really bad at night.
Doctor :   yes it is because of the retracted ear drum
Doctor :
and the eustacian tube dysfunction
User :   as previously mentioned, i have had middle ear infections and the ear drum burst. but that was a walk in the park compared to this!
Doctor :   now this is some thing to do with the pressure difference on either side of the ear drum
Doctor :   in nigh as it gets cold the atmospheric pressure drops and it is causing severe pain in your ear

Doctor :   not to worry at all

Doctor :
the grommet will relieve all the symptoms as well as your pain
User :   can i only expect the pain to go once i get a grommet?
Doctor :   very much

Doctor :   what the drugs and steroid spray cant provide relief the grommet will provide you the relief from pain
User :   oh no!
Doctor :   it sounds you are not comfortable with grommet
User :   so if I went to the ER, it would be totally stupid as the grommet is technically a medical procedure?
User :   See, in Australia (not sure where you are) I have extensive hospital private health insurance .. meaning it covers all treatment by a specialist of my choice in a private hospital.
User :   if i can get admitted!
Doctor :   you need to consult an ear specalist

User :   as apposed to paying a lot of money for consultations outside of a hospital setting.
User :   so that is why I am pondering about just going to the ER.
Doctor :   instead of every day taking drugs and visiting doctors and getting pain in night, go for grommet insertion at once and forget the drugs, pain
User :   yes, thats what i thinking. just going straight to the hospital. quicker and much cheaper. do you think that is a decent idea? or just silly.
Doctor :
it is the idea of choice
User :   cause with the pain, each day - i dont think i can wait that long, going to see a GP, getting a referal to a specialist, waiting for a few weeks to see the specialist ect ...
User :   considering this has been going and off for about three months, why would it have gotten so bad all of a sudden?
Doctor :   it is because the ear drum was compensating the dysfunction of tube

Doctor :
now as it is completely retracted it cannot compensate any more
User :   so its not like the steriods will heal it?
Doctor :   it is trying to temperorlay relieve you the pain
User :   hmm. ok/
Doctor :
fix a grommet as a day procedure and forget from pain
User :   does it help to blow air in to my ear by closing my mouth and nose and blowing? it crackles and squeeks. My husband can even hear it squeek.
Doctor :   you dont have to blow the ear at all if fitted with the grommet

Doctor :
it will only do it by itself
Doctor :
if at all you want to do you can blow
User :   is getting a grommet a day procedure in hospital?
Doctor :
most of the time it is a day procedure
User :   ok.
User :   alrighty then!
User :   this will do me for today! haha
Doctor :   made up your mind for grommet

User :   ill do what ever it takes at the moment. I just cant figure out if I should just go to the hospital direct. i dont want them to think I am being silly.
Doctor :
they will not
User :   because sometimes it doesnt hurt and sometimes it really really hurts.
Doctor :   they will be happy to know that there patient knows more about her illnes
User :   really?
User :   hmm ... ok.
User :   well i will see how I go tonight.
Doctor :
ok then
User :   thank you! again!
Doctor :   keep your room warm
