User :   Hello Doctor
Doctor :   hi
User :   this is a query for my son who is studying in class VII and his age is 12 now.
Doctor :
how can i help you?
Doctor :
please proceed with your health query
Doctor :
ok
User :   He is fat a 50 kgs and 4'2 height
User :   very lethargic
User :   and very lazy
Doctor :
ok
User :   Do you think i need to show him to any doctor
Doctor :
how are his performance in school?
User :   very lazy to wash is hand s and legs even to brush his teeath to have bath to thjink
User :   we are behind him and he gets through
User :   but very intelligent
User :   if he read once he will get good marks but does not do that
Doctor :
some children are lethargic when it comes to daily activities
Doctor :
what you can do is talk to his pediatrician
Doctor :
and see if pediatric counseling can be arranged for him.
User :   for example i asked him what he had for evening snacks after i went from office and he was so lazy to think that he told me he did not have
Doctor :   if he has sharp brains and is intelligent, then the counselling itself will help
User :   but he had some chapattai's
User :   he finds books as allergy
User :   No physical activity
Doctor :
but if the problem is with memory or laziness, lack of interest and towards dullness
User :   nothing always in front of computer or TV
Doctor :
then there might be some other mental problem coping up
Doctor :
is he alone at home?
User :   no his sister and my motherinlaw
Doctor :
are you both husband and wife working?
User :   and he is so arrogant to my Mother in law in answering
Doctor :
ok
User :   yes we both are
Doctor :
sometimes kids tend to do this..this is known as attention seeking behavior..and
Doctor :
it sometimes leads to behavioural disorders later on in life
User :   Is it because his sister who is 7 years younger is very bright in studies or is it because he feels we are pampering her more
Doctor :
since he is only 12 years now, it would be the right time to do intervention
Doctor :
in form of child psychiatrist/psychologist to evaluate him
User :   Can that be the reason
Doctor :
and see if he can be counseled or put into behavioural modification therapies
Doctor :
the reasons are complex with genetic, environmental, social and diet playing an intertwined role
Doctor :
so what i would suggest is to arange a visit to his pediatrician
Doctor :
and request him for a child psychologist/psychiatrist to evaluate him
Doctor :
and then go ahead with the counselling and behavioural modification therapy.
User :   Do we have any one in
Doctor :
if after the evaluation,
User :   ok
Doctor :
the neurological cause is found then he might need to be put on some medications too
User :   Is laziness a disorder
Doctor :
neurological causes can arise due to the genetic, and environmental, social factors affecting brain hormones and signalling
Doctor :   not if is not affecting the daily life
Doctor :
but what you describe
Doctor :
could be a symptoms of the attention seeking behaviour
User :   Yes i find it as height of laziness
Doctor :
and also a neuro-behavioral disorder
User :   Is it due to his weight and he is very short
Doctor :
so do not delay more, its is better that you take theese consultations soon to have maximum benefits
Doctor :
no usually it wont be due to weight
Doctor :
even obese children are known to be active
User :   ok
User :   But he is short also
Doctor :
after he crosses 13-15 years, it will be difficult to mould him
User :   Do we have any medicine to grow tall
Doctor :   boys tend to grow slow, he wil suddenly have a growth spurt when he is reaching 14-15years
User :   if i tell 2 times he is very angry and a not bothered attitude
Doctor :   its hormone related
Doctor :
and he will catch up
User :   ok
Doctor :
if after 18 years too, he is short then you can opt for height increasing steps
Doctor :
he will increase in height with the pubertal growth spurt and once he is active, sports participation will make him grow tall.
User :   He is in 7th now and if he continues the same then i am sure his future will be bad
User :   in studies
User :   So we are worried and planning to do our best
Doctor :   that is why i am suggesting the early intervention
User :   Do kids at 12 behave this way
Doctor :
to handle the problem
Doctor :   usually they do not,
User :   ok
User :   Then can you suggest any doctor
User :   in Bangalore
Doctor :   have you followed what i have said?
User :   whom i can take him to
User :   Ues doctor
