User :   Hi, my girlfriend took the morning after pill about two weeks ago and she has not bled yet. The first time she took it she said she spotted within a week or so. We're both worried b/c her next period is in about another week and a half. I know that a period can be delayed or come early due to the morning after pill, but since she took it before and it came early that time, doesn't it mean that it should come early this time again if she isn't pregnant? Or is is just a completely random thing each time due to the hormone imbalance? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

She was on birth control for two months prior to use having sex. We used the morning after pill in less than 24 hours after the unprotected session and it was during her infertile time of her cycle. This whole scare is due to pre-ejaculatory reasons. We had protected sex earlier, and about an hour or two later I went inside her for an instant and pulled out. I did not urinate between both sessions to expel any previous sperm.
Doctor :   hi
User :   Hi
Doctor :
please let me read it
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
when was her last period?
Doctor :
when did she start her BCP's?
Doctor :
was she still on the BCP when you had the unprotected intercourse?
User :   It was about 3 weeks ago, she had just finished taking BCPs for two months when we had that unprotected sex session.
User :   Reason I know this is because she was on a her placebo pill week the weekend we had unprotected sex. What was odd was that the bleeding during that week only lasted for about 3-4 days.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
bleeding while on BCP placebos can be less than the usual period
Doctor :
since she has had her period bleed while being on placebos it is unlikely that she is pregnant
Doctor :
also she has taken plan-B within 24 hours
Doctor :
so that also gives her potection
Doctor :
is she having any early symptoms of pregnancy like nausea, incresaed tiredness?
Doctor :
increased fatigue, increased appetite?
Doctor :
or breast soreness and tenderness?
User :   She is lactose and glucose sensitive and we ate some foods containing that the other day and it caused her stomach to become a little sensitive. Her breasts were sore about 2-3 days after taking the mornign after pill. Her appetite in general has been normal she said but she said she's been under a lot of stress due to this situation and also due to her classes and exams coming up.
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
the symotoms she is having could be related to the food change and stress
Doctor :   you can wait and see if she is getting her next priods
Doctor :
and repeat the UPT after 10 days
Doctor :
also if she continues to have symptoms, then it should be confirmed with the beta HCG blood test which is a standard test
Doctor :
are you there?
Doctor :
have you followed what i have said?
User :   Yes
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   When I mentioned that she bled within a week from the first time she took the morning after pill, this was before she was on birth control. Is the fact that she's on birth control now increasing the radical hormonal changes which is why she hasn't bled yet like she did the last time she took the pill?
Doctor :
the bleeding after the plan -B
User :   Yes
Doctor :   is the withdrawl bleeding that is normal to happen
Doctor :
if she is on BCP now
Doctor :
let her continu ethem as usual
Doctor :
and wait for next period while on the placebos
Doctor :
she can also take a urine pregnancy test at home to see if she is pregnant
Doctor :
and then decide whether to continue the pills or not
User :   If her period is in about a week and a half, when can she take these tests?
Doctor :
she can take one now
Doctor :
and repeat again after her due date of periods come
User :   How accurate would the test be if she took it now? Also, from your standpoint, what are the chances she's pregnant from all that I've told you (pre-ejaculatory pull out, low fertility point in cycle, BCP for two months and Plan B pill)?
Doctor :
with low fertility point in cycle, BCP for two months and Plan B pill, the chances of pregnancy is minimal
User :   From what I told you (the last time she had her period to when she has it next) would I be right to assume the low fertility point in cycle part if we had sex a week after she had her period?
Doctor :   if she is having a 28-30 day cyle,
Doctor :
her fertile period is between 8th-14th day of cycle
Doctor :
taking day1 as first day of bleeding
