User :   I am postmenopausal over 9 years and had a D&C/hysteroscopy about a month ago for polyps and increased uterine lining. For the last week my libido has gone out of control and was wondering if my hormones may have been effected due to the surgery? Please help me, I'm afraid to speak to my own gynecologist about this due to embarrassment.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi Dr.
User :   Do you have any answers for me?
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   53
Doctor :   Surgery on its own does not have any major effects on the sexual functions.
User :   What can I do? This has never been a problem for me.
Doctor :   What do you mean by libido going out of control
Doctor :   Do you mean you have reduced libido?
User :   I am constantly aroused with no "turn-off" switch
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness?
User :   Not that I'm aware of.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   my blood pressure has been a little high for a couple of months since the bleeding began in June due to worry I believe
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   The functions of libido are mainly caused by hormones of the adrenal glands which are inturn regulated by many other factors.
Doctor :   if your symptoms have been recent in onset, I suggest you to see a doctor, a gynaecologist/endocrinologist for evaluation.
Doctor :   A definite cause for your symptoms may not be possible without an evaluation.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   So I should definitely contact my gyn?
User :   yes I follow
User :   I wasn't sure if this was a mental problem?
Doctor :   Since the factors controlling the hormones are multiple,
Doctor :   and includes few mental factors too,
Doctor :   a definite reason for these changes can be determined by a face to face consultation with a doctor and by evaluation.
Doctor :   Hence you may have to see a doctor for evaluation.
User :   What type of evaluation? Is blood work done, etc?
Doctor :   If the causes are not due to mental factors then you may need blood tests and other hormonal assessment.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   yes, thank you
User :   No I think I'll contact my gyn today to see what he thinks. Thank you so much for your information.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now.
User :   bye
