User :   Will vicodin affect (positively or negatively) my sexual performance? I know it is an opiate and it blocks off pain receptors but does it also block pleasure receptors. I have low back pain (surgery scheduled in a week) and I'm trying to figure out if taking a pain pill before a big night will help, hurt, or be neutral.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr. xxx
Doctor :   What do you mean by big night?
Doctor :   The night before surgery??
User :   A planned sexual encounter in the next couple of days
Doctor :   Vicodin have no long affects on pleasure
Doctor :   It take care of pain for short time
User :   so will it potentially cause a problem with sexual performance (male)?
Doctor :   If you abuse it, like taking without schedule and not following the right dose, yes you may not be able to enjoy the sexual encounter
User :   I generally limit myself to taking only 1 a day b/c I know that overuse can limit its effectiveness.
Doctor :   Perfect
Doctor :   I do not see any problem taking it one per day
Doctor :   and try to limit its use if you do have some other alternatives for pain relief
Doctor :   even one per day
