User :   I haven't eaten for a whole day, just drank apple juice, water and Boost. When I go to the bathroom to release feces only yellowish liquid comes out. It felt like diarrhea except that my stomach has no food in it.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello.
Doctor :   May I know your age and gender?
User :   22, MALE
Doctor :   Since when are you having this problem?
User :   Am I really speaking to a doctor or is this another internet hoax?
Doctor :   I am Dr AAAAAAA I am a general practitioner.
User :   I hope so.
User :   Anyway, I've got this just today. Because I haven't eaten because of my strep throat.
Doctor :   I can send you my degree certificate copy by email. It will be up to you to decide whether you would like to follow our suggestions or not.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   How many such episodes did you have?
User :   My mistake, Doctor. Sorry if I offended you. I've had about 3 or 4 liquid diarrhea until now.
Doctor :   Do you have abdominal cramps along with these episodes?
User :   Not really. I actually feel quite normal in the stomach even though I haven't eaten. And when I pooped it didn't hurt, burn or cause pain of any sort.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Have you had similar symptoms in the past?
User :   No.
Doctor :   Do you smoke or consume alcohol?
User :   No.
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical problems such as diabetes/hypertensions/liver disease in the past?
User :   No.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
User :   Ok
Doctor :   Passing yellow coloured liquidy stools occurs when the diet that you consumed is excreted soon, before
Doctor :   the digestive enzymes act on the food products.
Doctor :   This incompletely digested food when excreted appears as yellowish in colour.
Doctor :   I would not be concerned with the colour of the stools.
Doctor :   I would however be concerned if you are passing the stools very frequently.
User :   You understand that it was ALL liquid, right? No solid chunks.
Doctor :   Yes, that is the reason, why I say, I will be concerned if you are having very frequent stools with abdominal cramps.
Doctor :   They would be signs of infection, then.
User :   Oooh.
Doctor :   Hence, you need not be concerned now.
User :   Then it should leave as soon as I eat something.
Doctor :   Yes, it should be better soon.
Doctor :   Increase your fluid consumption to make up for the liquids you are loosing.
Doctor :   Watch out for symptoms such as abdominal cramps and vomiting.
User :   I forgot to say that it looked dark brown when it was bunched up inside the toilet, but i scooped out some of it and when I overturned it, the liquid was actually yellowish.
Doctor :   If you develop such symptoms, you will need antibiotic.
User :   I understand.
Doctor :   Presence of dark brown or tarry stools indicate the presence of tinges of blood, probably due to the gastritis caused because you haven't been eating well.
User :   True.
Doctor :   Be regular with your diet in the future, and avoid fasting.
User :   I will. It's just my strep throat won't let me eat.
Doctor :   Restrict coffee , tea, hot and spicy food along.
Doctor :   Use antacid syrups such as Syp Mucaine gels 2 tsp before food thrice a day for the next 5 days,
Doctor :   You should be fine with it.
User :   Where can I buy this?
Doctor :   This is an OTC syrup, you can easily get this at any pharmacy stores.
User :   Ok.
Doctor :   And I would also suggest you few symptoms, that you need to watch out for.
User :   Ok.
Doctor :   1. Abdominal cramps with or without vomiting.
Doctor :   2. Further episodes of dark brown/tarry chocolate coloured stools.
Doctor :   3. If you are on an antibiotics(penicillin group of antibiotics), and if the loose stools persists, you may have to change the antibiotics.
Doctor :   If your answer is yes to any of these, you may have to report to your doctor for physical examination and evaluation.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   I have followed said suggestion and have written them down.
User :   I have more questions, yes.
Doctor :   Yes, proceed with them.
User :   About the strep throat I have right now.
Doctor :   Please explain.
User :   Well, I've had it for about 3 days and got into antibiotics (amox-something) yesterday, swallowing is extremely painful whether it's water, saliva or food.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   By now, I should be recovering. My fever goes up and down all day. And now I'm constantly spitting yellow goo that I think is pus.
User :   Is this a bad sign or am I succesfully getting rid of the pus pockets?
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
User :   Ok
Doctor :   Amox is a pencillin group of antibiotics,
Doctor :   though an effective in streptococcal infections, there are reports of resistances too.
Doctor :   Persistence of fever, indicate that your infection is still active.
Doctor :   Presence of pus too, is not a good sign.
Doctor :   If fever is persisting and if the pus presence is seen inspite of amoxicillin, I probably feel a change in the antibiotic will be needed.
User :   Ok. So constantly spitting the pus is not a good sign.
Doctor :   Yes, I would suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for a proper throat examination, you may need culture and sensitivity test of the pus.
User :   Ok. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow.
Doctor :   You probably may need a higher group of antibiotics depending on the culture and sensitivity test.
User :   That sucks, I was hoping I was recovering by now.
Doctor :   Don't be disheartened, you should be fine with better antibiotics.
User :   What about an antibiotic shot?
User :   Some people say it works faster. And what can I eat that won't make me gag or hurt me so much?
Doctor :   Get a physical examination and the culture test will suggest the best antibiotic.
User :   Ok, how long does that take?
Doctor :   Injectable antibiotics are higher group of antibiotics and are more effective than the amox.
Doctor :   You may be started on one after taking a sample for the test,
User :   Ok.
User :   What are signs of recovery?
Doctor :   Soft, liquid diet, will be more easily palatable than solid diet in throat infections.
Doctor :   Signs of recovery are absence of fever,
Doctor :   reduction in the pus secretions
Doctor :   and off course, the throat discomfort will be down.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :   Are you there?
Doctor :   Are you there?
Doctor :   I have to close the window as you are not responding. Please chat with our doctors 24/7 for medical queries.
