Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me guide you.
User :   And then whole cycle starts.
Doctor :   There are various forms of allergens.
Doctor :   The commonest among these are the dust and pollens.
Doctor :   Apart from these are certain food products such as sea foods, certain type of oils, other non vegetarian diet, wheat and so on.
User :   ok
Doctor :   The individual allergens that is causing symptoms particularly in you can only be determined by your personal experience and
Doctor :   by means of a special test known as allergen test.
Doctor :   Allergen test is a skin test, where the different allergens are tested on the skin to look for reactions.
User :   I'm probably not allergic to all food items which u specified because I eat everything and it doesn't affect me.
Doctor :   These tests are done at a few special centres like a multispeciality hospitals and few reputed laboratory.
Doctor :   As mentioned earlier, its difficult to predict the allergens that may be causing the problems in you.
Doctor :   However based on your symptoms, that is respiratory and eye symptoms, the allergens that may be causing the symptoms in you are probably the environmental factors such as the dust and pollens.
Doctor :   Now with this information, let me proceed further.
User :   I'm staying in bangalore and there is quite a lot of pollen pollution here.
Doctor :   The treatment of an allergic reaction depends on the severity of symptoms that you have.
Doctor :   And treatment can be leaving it alone, to injectable medications.
Doctor :   And I shall now suggest you the ways of prevention.
User :   ok
Doctor :   1. Avoid early morning walks as there more pollen in the atmosphere early in the morning.
Doctor :   2. Avoid going into the bushes and dense trees and plantations
Doctor :   3. While driving in the mornings and during late hours its advisable to wear a mask and eye glasses.
User :   ok
Doctor :   4. keep the doors and windows closed with curtains during these hours.
Doctor :   5. Regular washing of the curtains to remove the dust and pollens that are deposited in it is essential
Doctor :   6. Similarly keep changing the bed sheets and the pillow covers and washing them regularly is also needed.
User :   ok
Doctor :   7. You need to avoid dusting the rooms especially in a closed room or environment such as cabins, shelfs, and so on.
Doctor :   8. Reguarly cleaning the home to remove the dust can also help in restricting the development of allergies.
Doctor :   Cleaning of the home/room is by wet mops or a vaccum cleaner is better.
Doctor :   These few tips are especially essential in colder weather conditions.
User :   ok.
Doctor :   These measures that I have suggested are for the dust and pollen allergies alone.
Doctor :   Apart from these watch out for food and medical drug allergies,
Doctor :   Always mention to a doctor when ever you consult them about your allergic symptoms.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes doctor. i have a question.
Doctor :   yes, proceed.
User :   I have been taking cetezine from some time. But its like i could take this for the whole of winter considering my allergy.
User :   Is it good to take cetezine everyday or in such frequency?
Doctor :   Cetrizine is an antihistaminic drug.
Doctor :   You can take this however since it can cause drowsiness, avoid taking them during day time.
Doctor :   You can use them during night.
Doctor :   Take them if needed.
User :   i generally take it before going to sleep or after dinner.
Doctor :   And include the necessary steps to avoid allergic symptoms.
User :   Any particular type of food which may increse my resistance power to avoid the situation?
Doctor :   The general medical principles is, if you can prevent it, the go for it than treat it.
Doctor :   DIet is an important means of increasing the immunity levels, which can play a vital role in allergies.
Doctor :   In particular, diet rich in vitamins are essential.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Use plenty of vegetables and fruits as they are good source of vitamins.
Doctor :   You can also take multivitamin pills in order to boost you vitamin supplies.
Doctor :   Apart from this is the benefits of yoga.
Doctor :   There are particular asans in yoga, that may benefit an allergic person.
Doctor :   Though my knowledge of the yoga and its practise are limited, its role in preventing allergies is known.
Doctor :   You can consider them too.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes doctor.
User :   I'm going to ask a kind of foolish question.
Doctor :   Please proceed.
User :   But does smoking can make the effect of allergy worst?
User :   I'm trying to quit smoking though.
Doctor :   Yes, smoking has effects on the lungs.
Doctor :   It causes one of a potentially dangerous conditions known as COPD>
Doctor :   Here, in copd the oxygen transferring property of the lung is reduced.
Doctor :   Hence in events such as allergic reactions or broncial asthma, the severity of these reactions is much more in patients who have copd.
Doctor :   Hence its advisable to quit smoking.
User :   Please doctor. let me know.
Doctor :   To put across what i have mentioned to you in simple words, smokers have reduced oxygen levels in the blood.
User :   ok
Doctor :   And in times of events such as an infection, or broncho spasm, the oxygen that reaches the lungs are reduced.
Doctor :   This is what happens in times of asthma, that is the oxygen that reaches the blood is low.
Doctor :   Hence if one has a condition, where there oxygen levels are low before these events occur,
Doctor :   the effects of bronchial asthma or infections are severe than in one who does not smoke.
Doctor :   Hence though, there is no direct link between preventing allergies and smoking, its advisable to stop smoking
Doctor :   to reduce the chances of developing severe reactions and hospitalisation.
Doctor :   I hope you have understood that.
User :   I understand it doctor. Can you suggest me some technique using which I can get rid of that desire?
Doctor :   To help you in this, may I know the details of your age, the mumber of cigarrettes that you smoke and since when?
User :   I'm 22 years old. I have avg 4 cigarrettes a day and i've been smoking from last 1.5 years.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you consume alcohol?
User :   once in 2 months.
User :   very rarely.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   When I say, quit smoking, there are two means of doing it.
Doctor :   One completely stop your cigarrettes and over a period of time you would have stopped your cigarrettes.
Doctor :   second is, start reducing the number of cigarrettes you smoke gradually and slowly over a period of time, you may have achieved stopping it.
Doctor :   The first one is more effective but a difficult one, than the second.
Doctor :   You can choose one of this and go about it.
User :   yeah right. i've done it several times and failed in it.
User :   I think I should try another way then.
Doctor :   Before, I comment further, I would like to share this information.
Doctor :   If you can successfully stop smoking for 2 years, than you are equal to a non smoker.
Doctor :   So your target is to achieve this.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Now how to go about is the next question.
Doctor :   The main hindrance in quiting smoking is the urge that you get when you don't smoke.
Doctor :   So if you can by some means achieve control of this urge, then you can be achieve the success.
Doctor :   There are two forms of controlling this urge.
Doctor :   1. Practise deep breathing exercises.
User :   ok
Doctor :   This can be done by slowly inhaling as much air as you can and breathe out slowly with your mouth closed.
Doctor :   Count the number of breathes that you take while doing this.
Doctor :   This helps in relieving the tension and the urges.
Doctor :   If these do not help then alternatively, you can use products such as nicotine gums or patches.
User :   Alright. These two seems to be good ways which I've never tried.
Doctor :   Once you can stop the urge, you can succeed in preventing from smoking.
Doctor :   There is another problem which is most commonly faced while quiting.
Doctor :   This is most people successfully stopsmoking for a few days, but over a period of time start smoking again.
Doctor :   To help you in this, there are various tips that can be followed.
User :   yeah i've been one of them doctor.
Doctor :   A few such tips are given in this link, which I'l share with you.
Doctor :   WWW.WWWW.WW Doctor :   There are few tips in this which can help you in guiding you through the quit smoking.
User :   ok
Doctor :   You can follow them too.
Doctor :   You can start of with any of the two methods that I mentioned earlier, that is stop completely or start reducing the cigarrettes and go ahead till you achieve the target.
Doctor :   that is no smoking for 2 years.
Doctor :   Have you followed what i have suggested?
User :   ok, i'll try as you have suggested.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query that i can assist you with?
User :   Yes doctor I got your point.
User :   No no other queries as of now doctor.
User :   Thank you so much.
