User :   Hello
User :   Since i only have 5 minutes ill be direct
Doctor :   Yes, please
User :   I had bilateral rectus surgery 7 days ago which is just basically the straightening of a lazy eye
Doctor :   ok
User :   i am not a regular smoker but i am going to an occasion which calls for it (hookah bar) how long do you think i should wait before i can smoke
Doctor :   Atleast 3 months from now
User :   ouch is the problem with the fact that smoking puts pressure on your eyes or is it because my body isnt ready for the smoke yet
Doctor :   for any surgical wound to heal better completely it takes minimum of 2 months , so not to interfere with healing better avoid it for 3 months
User :   Ive been to alot of online forums and those were the two most common answers
User :   this is somewhat of a tradition between me and my friends and i really dont want to miss it
User :   so i was wondering if it would just slow down my healing or actually cause harm
User :   or have any negative side effects on my eyes
Doctor :   it affects the microvascular regeneration
User :   So it doesnt completely halt the healing process but it will slow it down
Doctor :   either could happen , slowing for sure but may also lead to faulty healing
User :   is faulty healing a very likely ocurance or is it a 1 in a million chance
Doctor :   avoiding it for a minimum of 2 months is a good idea
Doctor :   not a common one , but a dangerous one
User :   i see well thats all that i needed thank you for your time im sure you have many patients anticipating answers to there medical needs
User :   I have a small habbit for smoking marijuana, actually a small habbit maybe once or twice a month simply recreationaly. I had Bilateral rectus surgery 7 days ago (straightening lazy eye), and was wondering if edible forms of marijuana would have negative effects on my recovery, I already asked my doctor about smoking and he told me that i should wait atleast two months best if three, but i had not asked about edible forms. i.e brownies, anything from marijuana extracted oils. Also would using a vaporizer, where theres no smoke just vapor that you inhale be included in the two-three month duration where i should not smoke?
Doctor :   not only the smoke the ingredient in the weed is not healty for post operartion
User :   yes i understand that but would it be a better choice then to smoke
Doctor :   it affects microvascular regeneration
Doctor :   its the same
Doctor :   smoke may add up, thats al
User :   oh i see
User :   thank you for your help once again!
User :   good bye
Doctor :   you are welcome
