Doctor:Good Evening
User:Hello Doc..good evening
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:today i did a CBC test in which the MCV test shows 80.4 cu
User:its less
User:range says 83-101
User:just want to know about this thing
User:can u pls help on this
Doctor:May I know what was the Hb level?
User:Is there any thing to worry
User:haemoglibin 15.4, RBC Count 5.3 and WBC 5900
Doctor:it is fine
Doctor:You need not worry.
Doctor:That means it is the average volume of a red blood corpuscle (RBC)
User:just searched in internet its says if MCV is less then its deficiency of iron..something like this
Doctor:It is found by dividing the total volume of RBC by the total count of RBC.
Doctor:In Iron deficiency anemia, first thing to note will be the anemia.
Doctor:That is why I asked about your Hb levels.
Doctor:It is extremely fine.
Doctor:So there is no deficiency of iron in you.
Doctor:hence, there is no cause to worry.
Doctor:You can relax.
User:okies.. actually am worried little bit doc.. the thing is am havinng gastric issues.. Gastro doc says its i just thought to take a blood count test..
Doctor:In that case, go for an upper GI endoscopy. That should suggest whether it is GERD or gastritis.
User:endoscopy was fine
User:i had heart burn, burps, chest pain etc..although am little well now,but yesterday i read in iinternet that these can also be early symptoms of stomach cancer or cancer in gastrointenstine
Doctor:Please do not trust everything on internet.
User:so worried because of tis..although endoscopy says NORMAL
Doctor:People write many things with half knowledge.
User:i read in wikipedia
Doctor:See, let me explain.
User:so was worried..although am getting fine now and endoscopy was is there any things which can remove my fear
Doctor:When you are looking only at symptoms, yes, many symptoms are there which could indicate a cancer.
Doctor:But, to come to a diagnosis, only way is that you have to undergo tests and find.
Doctor:if the tests are normal, then you need not worry.
User:yes endoscopy came NORMAL
User:only this test i did
Doctor:So relax.
Doctor:What I would suggest you is to go for a holistic approach.
Doctor:Find out how your body is doing in regards to health.
User:holistic approach?
Doctor:And then go for preventive measures to improve your overall health.
Doctor:I mean, don't just look at a part of your body, in your case, stomach.
Doctor:Look if any other causes are there which is causing this gastric irritation.
User:so i shud not be afraid of this stomach cancer or any other things..right?
User:as endoscopy was NORMAL
Doctor:Yes. You should not worry about anything, until anything is found on investigations.
User:ok..and how to improve this MVC thing
Doctor:Do not worry about that. As I said before, it is obtained by calculation. S
Doctor:it is total volume of RBC divided by Number of RBC.
User:okies..thanks doc..
Doctor:So if those values are altered, you get a different value.
Doctor:So relax. you seem to be fine.
Doctor:Have you understood all my suggestions?
User:yes doc
Doctor:Is there anything else I could help you on?
User:nothing doc
Doctor:If you are not feeling better, I can give you a call and explain.
User:its fine
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Have a Nice Evening!!
Doctor:Bye for now.
