Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   HI who am i chating t
Doctor :   I am a general practitioner.
User :   hi can you help me will i feel any paine during an autopsy on my body after i die from cancer of the brain stem ??
User :   is much involved to have an autopsy
Doctor :   Autopsy is done only on dead and if you are dead, there is no issue of pain.
User :   ok but how is my body layied out for an autopsy ?
Doctor :   Generally in a anatomical position, that is in a face up position.
User :   which part of my body will be cut for autopsy
Doctor :   Autopsy involved dissection of the entire body and organs to know the cause of death,
Doctor :   since you say that you suffer from a brain tumour, they would be concentrating more to the brain.
Doctor :   And the rest of the organs would be studied for possible metastasis.
User :   so is my brain removed ?
Doctor :   Yes, it would be removed.
User :   hows this done
Doctor :   I do not practise autopsy, it is done by pathologist and forensic experts, so this question would be better answered by them.
Doctor :   However as far as my knowledge, usually using a electric saw, the skull will be opened and the brain would be studied.
User :   ok may i ask as i got cancer of the brain stem would this stop me from donating my body to a medical college
Doctor :   That is not an issue, you may still donate your body.
User :   you see my wish is to help others by donating my body am i going too
Doctor :   That is a very generous act. You would be very useful to the students.
User :   will thay need to have my body embalmied
Doctor :   Yes, the body will be embalmed and stored using preservatives to prevent the decaying.
User :   so when will thay embalme me after death
User :   how long after
Doctor :   It should be done within 24 to 48 hours after the death to be effective.
User :   what is used for embalming me ??
Doctor :   Yes.
Doctor :   It is a mixture of chemicals containing formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, ethanol, and other solvents
User :   hows this put into my body ?
Doctor :   It is done by removing the blood form the veins and the arteries and this chemical mixture is injected into the empty blood vessels.
Doctor :   There are other practices too.
User :   ok may i ask will the med college be ok with haveing my body
Doctor :   If you have already informed the college authorities and if they have agreed, then you would be taken into the college.
User :   yes iv given consent and been accepted where in the college will my body be taken ?
Doctor :   You would be kept in a room which is part of the department of anatomy.

Doctor :   This will be decided by the college authorities and the anatomy professors.
User :   does my age matter of 24 will the students be ok as im young
Doctor :   Age does not matter.
User :   am i clothed or not
Doctor :   You would be unclothed during the time of dissection and during the rest of the time will be kept uncovered in a sheet of cloth.

Doctor :   Yes, it would remain more or less the same.
Doctor :   It would be same till you would be dissected.
User :   WHEN WILL I BE DISSECTED and how much of me

Doctor :   Depends on how it would have been at the time of death.
User :   if there closed will thay need to open them ?
Doctor :   It is not needed.
User :   may i ask when im being dissected do thay have me fully on show ?
Doctor :   Can you reframe your query?
User :   when im being dissected is my full body shown ?
Doctor :   Yes, most often it would be kept uncovered during dissection.
User :   what is the first part mostly going be dissected ?
Doctor :   Dissection will start of with the upper limbs.
User :   which parts do you meane my arms ?
Doctor :   Yes, upper limb refers to the arm/forearm and the hand.
User :   then which part after
Doctor :   It is not fixed and again depends on the college authorities.
Doctor :   It may be the thorax or the lower limbs.

Doctor :   Dissection is for the first year student, who would have no, knowledge of the cancer.
User :   may i ask will thay find me intrsting then
Doctor :   However, if it is useful, the organs would be used as a pathological specimen.
Doctor :   It will be useful to the second year medical student who study pathology.
User :   thay did say i may be used by second year group what would thay do with me ?
Doctor :   Ok, then the organs will be displayed at the pathological lab.
