User :   Hi, my Mom is in FL & told me that all of a sudden she realized she had a red ring all the way around one eye. She said she looked like a raccoon. Now it has oved to her other eye, so she has a red ring, like a raccoon - around both of her eyes. What should she do?

User :   The only thing that had happened to her recently was that she had burned the top of her left hand - 2nd degree burn - with some boiling water while making shrimp
User :   She had not gone to the dr. for it, but has now

User :   They put her on an antibiotic

User :   She's taken that faithfully
Doctor :   But does she has any rash any where?
User :   That I know of, just those 2 red rings, one around each eye now
User :   She does have some dry itchy skin on most of her fingers
User :   she gets reactions to foods
User :   we both have a lot of food allergies
User :   I think it really weirded/freaked her out to all of a sudden get a red ring all the way around one eye - before the antibiotics -then while taking them still - it move to her other eye & she has a red ring now around boths eyes

User :   what should she do
Doctor :   Use cetrizine 1 tab daily
Doctor :   Apply cold ice pack on eyes
User :   where can she get cetrizine?

Doctor :   Drink lot of water
Doctor :   cut cucumber and apply on ice
Doctor :   Is there any swelling in eye lids?
User :   ok. I don't think she has tried the cucumber yet, nor ice
User :   I can reinforce more water every day - lots of water
User :   I think she has been taking benadryll

Doctor :   Dehydration, lack of sleep, allergies are very common
Doctor :   So Hydration is very imp
Doctor :   Benadryl takes care of allergies
Doctor :   She also need good sleep
User :   yes - I think she is trying to get enough sleep - but she won't take even a tiny bit of bio-identical hormone replacement even though she has had a complete hysterectomy & has no ovaries.

User :   she's 70 so & worried about the studies w/ estrogen. but has no ovaries & won't even take a little HRT - bio identical - which I think could help her sleep
Doctor :   All women does not need
Doctor :   Because estrogen had side effects on heart
Doctor :   If she has any depression, sleeping problems it is better to take SSRIs (antidepressants)
Doctor :   But stay away from Estrogens if possible
Doctor :   She needs to take Calciuon carbonate and vit D 3 tab
