User :   I have undergone my hernia surgery 2 times within 6 months and still i find there is some kind of drainage inside my belly button and little redness and it is swollen. I have been consulting with my doctor and she has no idea whats going on inside and i have my appointment again next week. I am totally confused regarding this problem
Doctor :   hi.
User :   Hello Doctor
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here.
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed.
Doctor :   what is the discharge like?
User :   I went through Umbilical hernia surgery on Oct 28, 2009. I had infection and had to go for another round of surgery on Apr 12, 2010. Now it is almost 8 weeks but still I have drainage (pus like) coming from belly button.
Doctor :   could you describe what kind of drainage it is?
User :   The discharge is white and sometimes slightly mixed with blood.
Doctor :   ok, the discharge that you describe now, suggests a 'serosanguinous' discharge, which is at times common
Doctor :   there should be a re look taken inside to see if the stitches inside are fine.
User :   you mean one more surgery?
Doctor :   it is not exactly a surgery
Doctor :   but a careful look to see where the discharge is coming from
Doctor :   once it is made out, it can be sealed
User :   the surgeon says that there is a pink skin and she uses a silver nitrate stuff to burn it.
User :   but that has not been helping much.
Doctor :   ok.
User :   Should we go for some other surgeon?
Doctor :   has she discussed about the stitches?
Doctor :   have they healed well?
User :   The outer skin has healed well. But we don't know about inside.
User :   Careful look means cutting and checking it again? or is there any other way possible?
Doctor :   then it should be examined well
User :   The surgeon doesn't seem to have any clue of why the pink skin is appearing.
User :   in the belly button.
Doctor :   ok.
User :   Any idea what should we do next?
Doctor :   then i t is better to take a second opinion from a diffrent surgeon, and if needed let him open and see from where the discharge is issuing
User :   Is one more surgery the only possibility?
User :   I have had surgery twice in past 6 months and really afraid of one more.
Doctor :   yes, since the repeated efforts to look for cause is not worked, it has to be seen
Doctor :   such that the discharge can be stopped
User :   If the wound (internal) doesn't get healed, are there any medications prescribed by doctors?
User :   We feel it could be the dissolvable stitches are dissolving faster (before the surgery wound heals).
Doctor :   it could be, so this time, may be the doctor would
Doctor :   use diffrenet opne and see the results
Doctor :   more importantly the source of discharge has to be looked and found
Doctor :   and it has to be selaed
