User :   I'm a fort six year old female who has no history of any previous illnesses. I recently noticed that I'm having some difficulties in my pronunciation. It feels as if my tongue is not moving freely in my mouth, yet I have no problems in sticking my tongue out of my mouth straightly or moving it to any direction. I don't have any other face weaknesses and I'm completely healthy. I haven't tried any thing yet as I don't know where to start.
Could it be MS? Does MS symptomise in one symptom only like in my case?
If not what could it be?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query
Doctor :   MS does not cause such speech oriented presentations exclusively
Doctor :   there shall be other neurological symptoms as well
Doctor :   If you are not able to move your tongue freely
Doctor :   then it could be a condition like tongue tie
Doctor :   or ankyloglossia
Doctor :   if that is not the case
Doctor :   then it could be spasticity of tongue
User :   What are these two conditions? Are they curable? Is there a treatment? How do I know whether I'm having any of them?
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   There is treatment
Doctor :   but it does improve with time
Doctor :   and get healed
Doctor :   so there is no problem for it to remain as a residue
Doctor :   it shall improve
Doctor :   You shall need to consult a Neurologist for that issue
Doctor :   He shall be able to help you
User :   Shall I mention the two diseases that you suspect?
Doctor :   Yes you can
User :   Do I have to take medication for it? Is it more of a psychological disorder? What could happen if I didn't treat it for a while? I'm not confident in our health care in the country and I'll have to wait untill the holiday to see doctors . I'm a professor.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   It cannot be said as a psychological disorder
Doctor :   unless examined in person
Doctor :   How is your taste sensation?
User :   Completely normal
Doctor :   Fine
Doctor :   then it is only the motor component that is disturbed
Doctor :   not the sensory component
User :   What could be the reason behind that?
Doctor :   As I mentioned it can be a lesion is the extrapyramidal tract
Doctor :   in the brain
Doctor :   which can cause such symptoms
Doctor :   Are you getting it?
Doctor :   brain meaning the Central Nervous system which includes spinal cord
Doctor :   and peripheral nerves
User :   how do I keep the information in this chat box?
Doctor :   You can see it in your account and settings
Doctor :   under chat history
Doctor :   It shall be saved there
User :   How serious is it?
Doctor :   It should be sought help from Neurologist
Doctor :   as for any intervention if necessary after the examination
Doctor :   earlier the better
Doctor :   with the results
User :   You didn't tell me if it's a curable case or not. Could it get even worse?
Doctor :   It is curable
Doctor :   I did tell you initially if you have missed out
User :   I need your complete contact information so that I can visit you in your clinic. But is it going to get worse in case I didn't seek help immediately?
Doctor :   I am a General Practitioner and provide only online consultation
Doctor :   from Bangalore, India
Doctor :   It is better for you to consult a Neurologist for this case
User :   OK so you are not a neurologist?
Doctor :   No I am a General Practitioner with experience in neurological cases
User :   What could happen if I posphoned the treatment?
Doctor :   The prognosis shall be not that good
Doctor :   if the treatment is delayed
Doctor :   the intervention be it speech therapy, medications, shall have to be initiated
Doctor :   in the earlier stages
Doctor :   for the best outcome
User :   OK thank you very much
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   No thanks.
Doctor :   Have you followed the discussion?
User :   Yes I did
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
