Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here
Doctor :   please proceed with your health query
User :   hi, ok well its to do my my period
User :   about 1 and a bit ago i started taking duromine 15mg
User :   *month
User :   last period was on the 7th august
User :   and have taken 3 pregnancy tests all negative
Doctor :   ok
User :   can u tell me wat could be happening
Doctor :   what symptoms do you feel at present?
User :   nothing at all, i feel healthy and fine, a little bit more tired then usual but i have stopped taking the duromine
Doctor :   ok. were you having unprotected intercourse ?
User :   i did once yes
Doctor :   are you on any birth control?
User :   no
Doctor :   diet pills are known to cause hormonal disturbances
Doctor :   that can make your periods delayed or come early
Doctor :   i would recommend you to go ahead with getting a blood beta HCG level test done first since you have had history of unprotected intercourse.
User :   so you are saying the home tests could be wrong?
Doctor :   if not found to be pregnant, then next step would be to take a hormonal analysis test to see if any hormonal abnormalities could be the cause
Doctor :   yes, home tests can give false negative results which can happen due to lesser concentration of HCG hormone in urine
Doctor :   blood levels are more accurate
Doctor :   serial blood level measurements will show rising levels every 3 days which confirms that you are pregnant
User :   when you say hormonal abnormalties what does this mean
Doctor :   i will explain
Doctor :   diet pills can affect the FSH, LH, Prolactin, Thyroid hormone levels which in turn cause problems with egg release or ovulation
Doctor :   in absence of ovulation and proper endometrium priming, you do not have menstruation.
User :   Ok and what happens if this si the case?
Doctor :   if any abnormalities are detected, then supplements are given if hormone is found to be deficient
Doctor :   if found excess then antagonist drug therapy is started
Doctor :   which helps in getting the hormonal levels back to normal
Doctor :   and you again have your periods as usual.
Doctor :   did you follow what I have said?
User :   yeah thats great thank you, will see a doctor tomorrow hopefully, thanks
Doctor :   is there anything else you would like to ask me?
User :   no thats ok, thank you
