User :   I am 19 years old and experiencing the worst constipation of my life. I believe this has been building up for quite some time now due to my diet. I haven't had a "real" bowel movement in about a week. I have tried magnesium citrate, miralax, prunce juice, and colace softeners and the only results I get is a liquid discharge with minimal, if any, substance to it. I am able to pass gas also so I know it isn't a complete blockage. What is wrong, what should I do, and how can it be treated? Thank you so much.
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   Hi, doc
Doctor :   Have you tried fibers ?
User :   Yes, Prune juice is a fiber i believe. But in the instance that there is an impaction wouldn't fibers just add bulk and mass to the matter?
Doctor :   yes, but they drag in more amount of water into the intestine pushing the bulk out
Doctor :   only thing is you have to choose the better fiber
User :   Alright I will try that also. If that doesn't work and I do end up haven't to see a local gastroenterologist, how would this be treated?
Doctor :   by medications like Laxatives , purgatives , sometimes even by enema
Doctor :   I would advice you to try a home laxative
User :   Well I've tried two of the strongest laxatives on the market and got extremely minimal results
Doctor :   like Castor oil, the one which is pure and available in phrmacy
Doctor :   May i know which are the medicines you tried ?
User :   Magnesium citrate, which is a saline laxative and Miralax (Polyetheylene Glycol)
Doctor :   no they are mechanical laxatives,
User :   What is the difference with castor oil?
Doctor :   i was mentioning one which alond\g with laxative effect have kinetic effect also
Doctor :   like BISACODYL
Doctor :   only prescribed by Doctors
User :   I see
User :   I believe that answers everything. Thanks doctor.
Doctor :   You are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
User :   I will
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Take care
