Doctor:Good Evening
User:Doctor I've a query
Doctor:How can I help you?
Doctor:Sure, please proceed with your query.
User:I recently visited my family doc and was told that I've external Piles so wanted to know the propoer way to handle. He isn't helping and I'm busy as well...
User:I've been asked to get operated by a surgeon.
Doctor:In case you have piles, you will need to get it examined by a General Surgeon first.
Doctor:Yes. That is the only treatment which can give a relief from piles.
Doctor:Medication can only help in softening your stool.
Doctor:And hence prevent bleeding to an extend. it cured completely?
Doctor:On surgical removal, the present issue will be removed.
Doctor:But if you are asking about a recurrence,
Doctor:it can recur.
User:The funny part is I've no issues while stool or neither I've any kind of bleeding...Infact I get more relief while having stool...
Doctor:You can take steps to prevent it from recurring to an extend.
User:that's what makes me confused that whether is it really required to be operated?
Doctor:Yes. It may seem to be harmless sometimes.
Doctor:But, if it is diagnosed as piles, then it can open up anytime.
Doctor:Piles is known to be notorious in this issue.
Doctor:My suggestion would be to get it operated. do I need to visit any specialist?
Doctor:No. A general surgeon can do the surgery.
Doctor:General surgeon itself is a specialist.
Doctor:In case your wish is to visit a specialist only dealing with such issues, then a Proctologist is the person.
User:Ok..Also, how many days would I need to rest once I;m operated...
Doctor:You may require a rest for around one week.
Doctor:Hope your doubts had been cleared.
Doctor:Is there anything else you would like to know?
User:I never been operated neither anyone from my family have been operated so I'm a bit nervous... was helpful...thanks a lot...
Doctor:Ok. I understand the worry you are having.
Doctor:But, do not be worried. It is a simple procedure and does not cause you much pain.
User:is the patient unconscious while operation?
Doctor:You will be able to tell about it confidently once you undergo the surgical removal.
Doctor:Now a days, a complete general anesthesia is not given for simple surgeries like this.
Doctor:A local anesthesia can be used.
Doctor:Or if the surgeon wishes, he may suggest for a spinal anesthesia.
User:OMG! it means I'll be conscious while being operated...
Doctor:Do not worry. They will make the area numb first.
Doctor:Then only they will remove the piles.
Doctor:You will not know about it only.
User:Will it pain once the anesthesia effect is over?
Doctor:Mild pain may be there for 2-3 days occasionally. But, you will be having analgesics ( Pain killers) to remove the pain.
User:Ok..All this was really helpful...I hope to have this surgery in first week of XXXXXXX ..
Doctor:Fine. Wish you good luck with that.
Doctor:Be relaxed. You will be fine.
User:Thanks a lot...I hope the same.
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Have a Nice Evening!!
Doctor:Bye for now.
