Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
How can I help you?
User :   I have a question on possible std.
Doctor :
Sure
Doctor :
Proceed with it
User :   i was diagnosed with herpes about a year ago. I have been off and on with valtrax. I have not had an outbreak since I was diagnosed. I recently had a spot down there and I am not sure if it is the herp or something else
Doctor :   Is it painful?

User :   a little bit
User :   at first i thought it was a pimple
Doctor :
Ok
User :   because i have been taking my med
Doctor :   Ok

User :   i was able to pop it and puss came out. when i was diagnosed i could not "pop" it
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
usually viral lesions do not pop up
Doctor :
and goes more in favor of bacterial ones
Doctor :
and also herpes lesions are very painful
User :   what do you mean by viral lesions
User :   oh
Doctor :   Herpes is a virus
User :   well it is a little painful but not REAL bad
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
that is the reason, the possibility of Herpes comes down
Doctor :
and usually it spreads in the same region
Doctor :
and shall not affect other regions
User :   this spot came up about a week or two ago. and it looked like a pimple. now that i have popped it it is a little bump under my skin
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
It is more an acne like lesion
User :   i have been wiping it with alochol swab too.
Doctor :
and depending upon the further course you can differentiate it better
User :   how can i tell the difference
Doctor :   Like the pain progression

Doctor :
and the spread of lesion
Doctor :   it spreads along the nerves

User :   well it has not spread. it is only one spot
Doctor :
and you can see that evident in Herpes
Doctor :
Yes for now, you can be rest assured that it is not herpes
User :   ok. how do i get rid of it?
Doctor :
Also wiping it with alcohol is really recommended
Doctor :
and go ahead with it
Doctor :
It shall subside gradually
User :   how long?
Doctor :
the lesion clears in 7-10 days
Doctor :
leaving behind a small mark
User :   what if it is there longer?
Doctor :   which shall take few weeks

Doctor :
If it stays longer
Doctor :
and increase in pain
Doctor :   and size of that particular lesion
User :   well pain has gone down some
Doctor :   as if it is filled with pus
Doctor :
then a bacterial infection
Doctor :
or if pain is increasing and there is spread as well
Doctor :
then more in favor of herpes
User :   well when it first came up it was kind of large and yes it was filled with yellow like puss. i did pop it twice
User :   now it is much smaller
Doctor :   Yes, that is the reason I mentioned about a bacterial origin

Doctor :
and shall subside
User :   and like i said it is under my skin
User :   is it bad if i have sex
Doctor :   Ok

User :   protected
Doctor :
Now where is it wrt your private part
Doctor :
Protected is always better
User :   on my "lip"
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
But it can lead to a bit of discomfort and pain
User :   yes private part
Doctor :
and yes, protection is good
Doctor :
I got it
User :   do herpes lessions pop
Doctor :
No, pain is more prominent
User :   thats what i thought
Doctor :
and is a bit elongated like
Doctor :
rather that a bump like
Doctor :
'than
User :   ok. please understand why im asking so many questions. this is bothering me alot. a lil scary
Doctor :   Sure, I know about your concern

Doctor :
You can ask as many questions as you want
Doctor :
and get it clarified
User :   should i go to a doctor to get it checked out?
Doctor :   Not required for now

Doctor :
As I have mentioned like what happens it it stays long
User :   could this turn into a herpes lession?
Doctor :
then you can visit the doc
Doctor :
Not a likely event
Doctor :
Stay calm, have good food
User :   is this normal?
Doctor :
that shall improve your immunity
Doctor :
It is not a normal one
Doctor :
but not a serious one as well
Doctor :
You can afford to wait for now and see the changes
User :   i have been taking my valtrax for the most part. missed a few days but is it bad that i drink
Doctor :   Nothing specific to drink

User :   alchol
Doctor :
if it is within normal limits
User :   what is normal limit
Doctor :
1 drink per day is considered normal for females
Doctor :
and 2 drinks for men
User :   well im not normal
Doctor :
Alcohol shall have an influence on the immune response
User :   i drink about 4-6 drinks a night
Doctor :
and when immunity becomes week
User :   how do you think i got this
Doctor :
viral infections like herpes are opportunistic
Doctor :   and during such times it occurs
User :   sorry opportunistic?
Doctor :   It comes when the immune response is weakened

User :   so cause my immune system is weak i got this spot?
Doctor :   Yes, it is quite possible

User :   if i do not stop drinking or doing drugs could it be possible this spot wont go away?
Doctor :   Not like that

Doctor :   but the recovery takes longer
Doctor :
and it can lead to secondary infections
Doctor :
or an eruption elswhere
User :   ok. thats probably why it hasnt gone away
Doctor :
Moreover from an overall health point of view
Doctor :
you should limit your intake
Doctor :
of alcohol
User :   ok. but this weekend will be VERY hard. my bday is on sunday and planned on partying all this weekend
Doctor :   Ok

User :   plus super bowl
Doctor :
May I know your name and age?
User :   may i ask why?
Doctor :   For better communication

Doctor :
age for medical reasons
User :
Doctor :   Ok

User :   n
User :   yours?
Doctor :

User :   thank you
Doctor :
but you should take care of your health
Doctor :
and you should cut down your alcohol intake
Doctor :
You should not cite a reason
User :   oh welll i guess another thing you should know is i am diabetic too
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
So should me more cautious
User :   type 1
Doctor :
Alcohol is known to give empty calories
Doctor :   and that impairs your glucose control

Doctor :   So you should be more cautious

User :   well actually latley i have not felt too well when i have been drinking. i drink rum and diet and it has made me kinda queezy
Doctor :   Ok

User :   thats another reason why i thought it was herpes
Doctor :   Yes, Diabetes and Immunity again

User :   gotcha
Doctor :
Sorry?
User :   ??
Doctor :
Gotcha?
User :   i understand is what i meant
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Fine
Doctor :
Sorry I could not get that
User :   no problem
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?

User :   no i think that is it. i just wanted to make sure what was wrong with me down there
User :   I thank you very much.
